Hey All,
I'm back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain. I arrived at 740AM and parked two cars over from Toast. I gave him a Long Trail Blackberry wheat and we Toasted another epic session at Blue with a breakfast beer. We were able to make first civilian chair on the 6-pack along with another guy who was right on my heels on Razors edge which had about 3-4 inches of fresh manmade Poe. We then skied upper Paradise over to Dreamweaver..the rope was dropped and it was a little surreal finally skiing the run since they've been cutting it since I lived in Montana 5 years ago. It was chunky from the wet manmade snow and poor grooming but in a few days when the snow drys out it should be primo sweet and low.
I then joined up with Justo, Rose, BMTroublemaker, kid in the Blue jacket I forgot his name..we hit up Switchback which was nice..a little chunky but no people on it. Then two runs on Barneys Bumps..they blew a shit-ton of snow on Barneys and I enjoyed the far right side the best..smooth creamy snowgun goodness..props to the snowmakers!!!! Lazy Mile was also really nice and uber smooth around the big corner..boardercross was chunktacular..and Razors remained pretty nice but it was busy since Challenge was closed for the race team...Homestretch is a big enough clusterfock..add a couple dozen race kids arcing edge to edge turns and it's crazy. Burma road also had fresh manmade snow and I enjoyed going up the side of the trail.
Toast bailed early and I skied a few more runs with the Jib-unit..they went into Sidewinder park and I skied a run down that and it was pretty icy..Sidewinder is one of the only runs that hasn't received love from the snowmakers the past 3 days but apparently they are closing it down after today for a rebuild and more snowmaking..lets hope it's cold enough. Temperatures today were in the low to mid 20s but there was a moderate wind and not much direct sunlight so the realfeel was colder. I need to get a Bandanna..it seems like the cool thing to wear. I ended my day with a few solo runs down Lazy mile and the last run I skied the whole mile down to the lower park where I did a spread eagle and a mule kick off the little booters. I left at 1030AM after 15 runs for a total of 15,750 vert all off the 6-pack. There weren't many lift lines and once the liftline guys came out around 930AM there were actually some full 6-packs going up. The singles line hardly had any wait.
On the drive home I stopped at the Blue mountain drive inn...the waitress there said that she heard that Friday at Blue had over 11,000 people..I believe it...and that it was one of the busiest days in the BMDI history. All in all it was a fun long weekend of skiing at Blue. 4 morning sessions in a row was great..I'll probably be out night skiing tomorrow afterwork...it looks like Sunny and 40 degrees..mad goldilocks..
It's official Blue has 100 percent of their terrain open..except the halfpipe and Dreamweaver is open..now hopefully I can get the Dreamweaver song out of my head.
