Hey All,
I'm back from a fun solo session at Blue mountain. For the 2nd day in a row, the boss was playing golf so I escaped from work a few minutes before 3:00PM. On the drive up I rocked out to some
Jay-Z. Jackson 5, and Shop Boyz. I arrived around 3:25PM and it was 60 degrees under party sunny skys with hardly any cars in the parking lot. I switched my season pass from my Jacket to my pants because today I was going to be a one layer player. I also skipped the gloves because gloves are for gapers when it's 60 degrees out. Blue only lost a little bit of snow as evidenced by a few skeet spots, mainly on the boardercross and Paradise.
My first two runs were on Challenge which was fast with consistant soft crud on a firm base. Then Challenge was closed for the raceteam so I moved over to Razors which was sa weet. There was a thin cover sign at the top due to a few rocks and that scared away most of the people. Razors had the smoothest snow on the mountain with a few cool ridges near the top which were fun for jump turns. After 6 runs on Razors I moved over to Paradise which was pretty good but also had alot of people on it. There were a decent amount of school groups out and alot of lessons going on. Not enough people for a liftline more than a few chairs but enough people that I only had my own chair a few times.
I then did a run on Main Street and I skipped the bumps due to bad light as it was getting dark but the lights weren't on yet. The top was really nice and the bottom was a mess as usual..then down shuttle to the lower park for mini-halfpipe steeze and now there's two new rollers or as I like to call them..whoop dee doos. Park Crue and the groomers were setting up the Sidewinde park and most of the big rails have been installed. I'm thinking it will open in a day or two. It doesn't seem like there will be alot of big booters this year..mostly rails which stinks. I wish Sidewinder was all jumps and they kept the rails in the other parks. Lots of people were jumping the steps but I didn't try them. I ended my session with two runs on Razors..and a lightning fast run down Paradise. I skied 13 runs in 2 hours and I'm now over 500,000 vertical feet so far this season. By the time I get back from Jackson Hole later this month, I should be closing in on a million.. and then I'll pop champagne like I won a championship game..but for tonight I'll have a few leftover labatt blues from New Years...Holla
