Hey All,

I'm back from my last ski session of 2007. I woke up 30 minutes earlier than normal because I was planning on shoveling two paths at work before skiing. There was only a skiff of snow in Allentown so I hit the snooze button a few times. I left my apartment at 6:40AM and it was 32 degrees and the neighborhood streets were a little slippery. I stopped at the local mini-mart for some apple juice and I was on my way to Blue mountain. As I got closer to the mountain the roads got worse and there was about an inch and a half of snow at the base of Blue with a temperature of around 30 degrees. I booted up and saw Toast and Knuckledragger booting up as well as Rodney. The first run was down an untracked Challenge and it was sa weet. Not cold smoke powder but still fresh snow that you could look back and see your tracks. The only downside to the new snow was that it made the flats slower and some wax would have alleviated that.

Aside from challenge there was also lots of fresh powder in Barneys bumps..it was especially nice along the right side where there really aren't any bumps. I got first tracks down that and had to make a repeat visit for seconds. It was delightful...totally legit. Initially there were hardly any skiers and riders and I think it was because alot of people thought they would open at 8:30AM because it's a weekday. Lower main street had the fastest snow on the mountain and Paradise was really nice with lots of fresh POE on the sides..mad Edgar Allen. Lazy Mile was also nice but you had to brace yourself cutting over to the falls because the snow went from fast to slow in the span of about a millimeter...which threw me forward and almost sent me ass over tea-kettle. Besides Toast and Knuckledragger...one of the kids from the freeride program whose in middle school joined us for a few runs as well but then he went off to build a kicker with some Jib-sters in the lower park. Toast left around 9:15AM to go to a brunch and just about that time the sun came out.

It was a full on Bluebird morning. Sun shining..blue skys, fresh snow sparkling on the trees. Today would have been a day for Blue mountain to take pictures for their Brochure. All the runs stayed in really good shape due to the new snow and pretty light traffic. It took until about 10:00AM until all the Tom, Dick, and Harry's started arriving. In total I skied 19 runs off the six pack and one run off the quad. While riding the quad..me and Dan-Knuckledragger saw tracks on both Razors and the new trail. Who-ever poached those runs with an inch an a half of snow is definitely a few fries short of a happy meal. Me and Knuckle-Dan left at 10:45AM and proceeded to the Blue mountain drive inn for breakfast. He had Chocolate milk, pancakes, and bacon. I rocked a mushroom and ham Omelatte with no steeze, hash browns, rye toast, and bacon..with some coffee and water. Then headed back to the A..it was 41 degrees at Noon and I saw quite a few people playing golf at Allentown municipal on my way home from Wegmans.

2007 was an excellent skiing year for me and it wouldn't have been half as good if it wasn't for all the PASRs who I ski with. I'll see everybody next year..

I love how your report includes the trip there and what you ate. :D

Great way to end the calendar year!

Wait till you read my Jackson Hole trip reports in about 3 weeks..then you can read about all my meals, people I sat with on the plane, and what beers I drank..so fun..

I'm glad you enjoy my reports. I post one everyday on www.paskiandride.com and then just copy and paste it over here.
