Hey All,

I'm back from a fun morning session at Blue mountain. I left my apartment at 7:12AM and the temperature was in the upper teens. I rocked out to some Outkast and Lil Wayne on the drive up to the hill and I pulled into the upper lot at 7:36AM and the temperature was also in the upper teens. There was a bit of an inversion as it was colder in some of the more sheltered valleys..overhead the sky was dark with high cirrus clouds. Atomic Jeff was already booting up and Toast pulled in a minute later. At the ticket check M-Bike Mike and GahSkier George joined our crew. We were the first people to get scanned in at 8AM. It's still really weird starting at 8AM instead of 730AM..especially since there are so many more skiers and riders there right off the bat. Oh well it is what it is. On to the skiing......

Wow the first run down vista-midway-lower Main Street was sa weet..soft groomed cordoroy perfect for carving..upper Main Street was the same and there was tons of fresh cord to be had on Come Around. After about 3-4 runs things started to get more crowded..not crazy crowded but enough that I couldn't make Super G turns. Alot of threading the needle..We saw AngryHugo and his buddy at the top and Root joined our crew. I felt bad because we didn't wait for Root after a few runs but the early morning Blue crew is just go go go..zoom.. :sprint :sprint We also saw Terry, Kevin, the real tall 6 foot 8 dude who knows my name but I don't know his..and also Concussion Ted was grilling up some steeze in the terrain park.

On to the snowmaking assault...wow hats off to the snowmaking crew at Blue. The guns were going full blast on Tuts Lane, Challenge, Home Stretch, Shuttle, Terrain Run, Tubing, and parts of lazy mile..Lazy Mile looks like it has enough coverage to open and I'm hoping it's open tomorrow morning to help spread the people out and add some variety. I'm guessing the 6-pack will be open by next weekend at the latest.

I took my first wipeout of the season. As many of you know, I sometimes like to goof around on the slopes to entertain my ski buddies..well I was in a moderate speed power wedge turkey tuck with my poles straight in the air..going toward the bumps and when I was about to turn left..a snowsnake bit me and a fell down and slid a good 20 yards or so..I'll probably have a black and blue mark on my leg. M-Bike Mike..Alpinezones own Gorgonzola, was nice enough not to dust me with a wake of Pocono powder..Then later I was working on skiing switch and doing little spins at the flat area at the top and on my 2nd spin another snowsnake bit me...oh well..it took me to day 11 to fall..After 12 runs and 2 hours..I had my fill my runs were no longer mad steezy but more about weaving through people..too many people to ski uber fast. Me and Atomic Jeff went to the Blue mountain drive-inn..the temperature was in the low 20s...

All in all a really fun session..my first few runs were some of my best of the season and the last few gave me practice for Nastar as it was the ultimate human slalom. I'll be back at Blue tomorrow morning for opening bell...will you?????

Also had a good day today skiing with everyone. I was having trouble keeping up with them cause I was still a little hungover from last nights farewell party. It didn't really matter to me, it was a good day for me to clear my head. I stayed for about another hour for a total of 12 runs or 11260ft of vertical. I knew it was time to bail out when the Ski Team started to make their decent down main street after standing around for 30 minutes. Most of the sugary cover was gone from Upper Main Street by then anyway. It was 22 degrees when I left and 34 when I got home 90 minutes later.

So much snowmaking going on at Blue. Gotta give them credit for that. Conditions were so much better than opening day.

I can't wait to get back. I'm still undecided about tomorrow morning.

I stopped at the Drive in for an egg and cheese sandwich for the ride home.

Nice..I give them alot of business..the employees in there are really friendly and they have an ATM machine as well. Their fresh sausage is awesome...I think it's homemade..

I was mighty hungry when I left. Good sandwich. Chased it down with a G2 I found in my car!

Great day on the mountain today. I did a few runs with M-bike Mike, he was having a good time on Barney's! He bailed before me to score some 20 degree mountain bike time

Great morning out there - its all above, great skiing with the AZpokeyPASR crew again - good to meet and ski with ya root! I was in the perfect position to snow GSS on his back with his face to me but after taking a ball bearing size mini cookie in the cheek off of gskiers twins, i dind't want to knock one of his teeth out or anything! i was living the dream today - left after 2 hours for a nippy 5 mi social mtb ride, then home to watch our own liberty hurricanes beat an undefeated north penn team to go on to states next weekend, then coached my sons hockey team to a 4-2 victory, all followed by some guinness' on the couch with mrs snowbunski watching the snow come down! aaah days like this...
