Yeah he did. They easily could have rearranged the schedule to allow for a training run. They could have pushed everything back a day seeing how this is the finals, nothing else on the schedule after Sunday. They could also get rid of the useless team event instead of the DH that would actually be exciting to watch.

Reading some of the comments on the ESPN article from people who know nothing about ski racing are kinda funny though.

Agreed 100%. They have absolutely no idea that at that level, especially in a speed event, that little things like how your serviceman prepped your skis and how the skis run over just a small gliding section can determine the outcome more than the athlete themselves.

I still say that in the '06 Olympics that both Bode's and Daron Rahlves relatively speaking "poor" results on race day in the DH was more to do with ski prep then them having a bad race. With how both of them trained for that race (great) and how both of them while skiing good lines lost time in the gliding portion of the course, and that both of them had their Atomic's prepped by the same tech that missed wax was the cause more than an "off performance"

What both Bode and Lindsey Vonn, and for that matter the vast majority of both the Mens and Womens team has done this year has been spectactular! Bode's I think was easy to call, since with his natural ability which is second to none on the World Cup circuit IMHO, combined with his break away to form "Team America" so he could train as he wants, this season for him as all about in a way showing Bill Marrolt and the rest of the US Ski Team brass how they've miss-handled him the last few years. What could be real interesting (and entertaining for that matter) is the 4th or 5th speach Bode will give after likely winning the overall WC globe and he's had a few beers. That could really be some quoteable stuff! ;)
