Booting up...in the lodge or the parking lot???

ALWAYS put my boots, ski pants and helmet on in lodge. I find carrying my gear bag with my lunch in it easier than trying to navigate the parking lot and base area in my boots.

Bad news there GSS. Driving in boots is truly dangerous. You can easily slip off a brake pedal and inadvertantly hit the gas. Also, I'll bet money that you don't have a manual transmission.

Driving in ski boots isn't dangerous at all. I've been doing it for 15 years at Killington and never had that senior moment where I hit the gas instead of the brake pedal. Driving after a bunch of happy hour cocktails in the base lodge is truly dangerous.

When I buy cars, I actually consider whether it's ski boot friendly. I buy Ford SUVs because they are easy to drive with ski boots and have the combo lock on the door so you can lock your car keys in the car. I've had a Mazda Navajo and two Mercury Mountaineers. Perfect for the mission. If I happen to be in my VW GTI commuter car, I boot up in the parking lot since there's no way I can handle the clutch and there isn't enough foot room.

Lodge. Don't want to walk in my ski boots in the parking lot, and often stop in the bathroom and/or drop off a bag.

lodge..locker area at Lincoln Peak at Sugarbush..carry my boots and ger in my Transpak that makles it all easy to carry

Always the lodge. I always feel like I'm going to leave something important in the lodge. I have a nice big Dakine bag that I can fit all of my gear in.

I would boot up in the lodge on weekends only if I was there before lifts were running, but since I never seem to be up before the hordes I'll boot up in the parking lot. I have driven in ski boots but that was when I had a ford Bronco and only for short distances now that I'm in a Pathfinder I'll be changing from streetshoes to boots in the parking lot and wearin down those soft plastic heel pieces (aftermarket anyone?)

I'm a snowboarder... So it really doesn't matter... most of the time I follow what the skiers do.. Cause it seems to be such a big issue.. Normally - I'll boot up at home or in condo.. For day trips maybe the car.. Driving isin't an issue with snowboard boots...

Also you can wear them longer in the lodge after riding...

Telemark boots are pretty comfy too.. I can drive with them on...

So, you know those cars with that keyless entry pad? The one under the driver's side handle? Well, if you look closely you will see that there are really only 5 buttons, labeled "1/2", "3/4", "5/6", "7/8", "9/0". In an effort to avoid a little confusion, I'm going to call those buttons 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, respectively.

A little experimentation will reveal that, if the code is 11357, and you type 5113579, the door will still open! This means that with 7 characters we managed to try out 3 sequences - 51135, 11357, and 13579. After the inital 4 numbers (which sort of primed the pump) every digit tries one new sequence. Since there are 55 length 5 sequences of characters from an alphabet of size 5, we know that we'll need to try 3125 sequences total. With our intuition from above, we would hope that we could find a sequence of size 4 + 3125 (priming the pump, followed by one new sequence every keypress). It turns out that a mathematician named de Bruijn has already done all of the hard work for us on this one, and all of the relevant math can found under the names de Bruijn sequence and de Bruijn graph. But I'm not going to talk about math any further here. Right now, I am going to give you a sequence of minimal length that, when you enter it into a car's numeric keypad, is guaranteed to unlock the doors of said car. It is exactly 3129 keypresses long, which should take you around 20 minutes to go through.

Reason being because I don't like paying to put stuff in lockers, and my family has been robbed blind as far as putting it above lockers, under tables, etc. Seriously, name a piece of ski gear, and its been ganked from someone in my family.

Also, once I come up from my car and buy my tickets, I'm ready to ski. I can't stand having to wait for people to boot up when I'm ready to go

Stowe has the best set up I know of for ski and out parking at the Gondola. I miss living there and the days of tailgating in the parking lot for lunch and a bit of apres before leaving the mountain.

I recognize that people are nervous of their stuff getting stolen, but it's never happened to me in 23 years of skiing (although maybe I just have crappy stuff).

I just sit on my tailgate and put my boots on and clothes..it's not uncomfortable..and I would never leave my gear just sitting around the lodge...The process of going into the lodge to get changed seems time consuming and a recipe to get sweaty..

i have only lost 1 pair of goggles that were lifted in a lodge that i stored my boot bag. Is my experience unusual or have you all that use the lodge been ripped off more?
