Brace Mountain - 10/21/2007

The past two weekends I have been hiking up the back to fly my hang glider from the top. I was joined each time by a couple other hang glider pilots and a dozen or so paraglider pilots. The view is one of the nicest in the area, and this Sunday looks like another fine day for flying if the weather holds.

Brace is a beautiful area. I've been up there a few times. Cool video. Looks like a few of those guys barely cleared the trees though. Also a bit disturbing when this video is considered "related":

That's why I fly a hang glider instead of a paraglider. They don't collapse :wink:

Seriously though, that guys was trying to do a loop. If you are doing aerobatics, then you are flying at the edge of the envelope. It's like hucking a 50ft drop in skiing. You better know what you are doing, and even then, your margin for error is slim with serious consequences.

5. What's with the last bit of footage where your shooting another glider? Looks like you're tied to him with rope?

That hike, no, don't see a reason to without a kite.
