How many of you have met someone from the opposite sex on a chairlift/gondi and have ended up having at least one date with that person? I never did, but I know someone who has.

BTW-feel free to give details as long as they are, well…..in good taste.

One of the ski mags once....

.....don't ask me who or when....had a short story along the lines of a chair lift sparked romance.

In this day of helmets, goggles, and full on exterior battle gear clothing, I can go into the singles line, hitch a ride, and the poor creature next to me doesn't know if I'm a 22 year old Hottie, or the 43 year old, crusty, wrinkled, married Nottie that I am. Long live Under Armour, the guy-girdle of the new millenium !

Heh you take a supermodel or some girl that easily ranks 11 on a scale of 1-10, put her in ultra baggy ski/snowboard pants, a baggy jacket, helmet and goggles etc... It might actually be hard to tell her apart from a 40 year old dude. But everything changes when the temps get warm in the spring !

It would be interesting if ski resorts did a chairlift version of speed dating or something. Just close off some double chair in the afternoon for it, have a gals and guys line, come up with some system for the lifts to match people up etc.... Something like this could be great for publicity, etc....

I have met and then dated a few women after a chatting on a chair lift ride, but ride lifts to ski, not meet women. I talk to people during chair lift rides if others are receptive to talking, male or female, as I like people and also enjoy learning things. If the chat seems interesting, I have asked if they want to take a run and see what happens. I have met several excellent skiers, learned a lot about local areas, skied some secret stashes and met a few women. I'm married now so don't date others any more but still get invitations to parties or apres ski drinks once in awhile.

I met my wife that way. Both of us were teaching skiing at PCMR in '89. I was the clinician and she was one of the nubie instructors. We hit it off and the rest is....well you know;)

Um...kinda.

Did they classify you as a level 2 or level three offender Marc?

I went up a chairlift all by myself once. It was a good time.

Seriously though, on the rare occasion I find myself on the lift with someone of the female persuasion, they are usually either a lot older or skiing with a husband/boy friend. Younger females, especially those that can rip, are pretty few and far between and usually not all that interested in anything but skiing when on the mountian, much like myself. I settled on a non-skier romance, which is fine by me. Even when I was single, I would never take a pass at someone on a chair lift... just never seemed like the right time and place. I was too worried about having fun to try to get involved with a women...

Chicks that can rip are definatly a great thing. I see to many hot girls that come in on weekends, take 2 runs and spend the rest of the day in the lodge. It is a definatly a great thing to ski with your gal, that is as long as you can at least keep up with her :???:

Hey riv, I thought you were going to get your girlfriend on skis this winter. Did that ever happen, or am I thinking of someone else?
