Burke just issued an e-newsletter. Here are the highlights:
CONDITIONS
It’s March 31st and 98% of Burke Mountain is open. The spring skiing is
excellent. But alas, all good things must come to a close. So, this
weekend is it, folks. Sunday, April 3rd, will be Burke Mountain’s last day
of the 2004/05 season. Delay your spring chores one more weekend and come
up and get your last runs in at Burke. Don’t forget, ski Sunday afternoon
(12:15 to close) for only $15.
BURKE IN THE BURLINGTON FREE PRESS
Burke Mountain will be featured in tomorrow's (04/01/05) Burlington Free
Press. Matt Crawford, the BFP outdoor writer, is writing a feature on pond
skimming contests and inquired about ours for his article. To the best of
my knowledge, this is NOT an April Fool's joke. We'll see...
POND SKIMMING
Speaking of our Pond Skimming Contest, last week's was a major success.
Mike Johnson, dressed as "Joe Dirt" is this year's champion. He was in
"skim off" with this year's runner-up Adrian Walther, dressed as "Crocodile
Dundee". Adrian was runner up last year too. This year we had 65
contestants and we estimate we had around 1,500 spectators. This year's
pond was 82 feet long, believed to be the longest skimming pond of any
Vermont ski resort.
