2007-2008 Report # : 35!!!!

Trip Report: Carbon Copy of Saturday. Well, I had such a good time, that I could not help but come back. The original trailboss Emailed me on Saturday night asking if I was coming back. I walked the dog I was dogsitting and thought about it...Sugarbush or Burke? I also got a call from Snowmonster saying that he was doing Burke. I said I would give him the VIP tour...so the decision was made. I pointed the car eastward and enjoyed an INCREDIBLE day.

After asking the original trailboss not to roll over me again, we hit the mountain. More great grooming and great views:

We hit an AMAZING Powderhorn:

We were all swooning at the conditions...amazing. After another spin, the 'Patrol headed in for a short break while I jumped on the Poma for a spin down Warren's Way (above).

Then we picked up the Snowmonsters and did a spin down East Bowl. Wow. It was incredible...and probably the most crowded I have seen it...and with good reason:

The Dawn Patrol on Toll Road:

We did a spin down Meadow's and Lower Bear Den and Fox's Folly....amazing. Then a run down Carriage Road and Dippers.

After that, the Patrol called it a day and I took the Snowmonsters on some more cruisers down Shoot, Willoughby, Powderhorn, Dippers, Lew's Leap, Boarderline, Ledges, Dipper Doodle (where we came across TWO injured skiers/riders who had run into trees  ). We took a brief lunch and then Snowmonster and I went nuts....

First run was down "Radar Love" and Snowmonster loved it...then we jumped into Throbulator:

And cut over to the Poma for some action on Doug's Drop:

And then the woods:

SM even got stuck in "Pocahontas." I only saw arms flailing, trees shaking, and snow falling at one point!

On the second to last run, we enjoyed a lift ride with a "snow bunny" from the Boston area. She asked where we had been skiing and we replied with our "cover" stories (I was the ski patroller, and he was the utility inspector). She laughed...I regret not asking her to ski the last two runs with us...maybe we will meet again?

So I showed SM some more goods....and he was loving it...we jumped into Dipper Woods and then ripped some turns on Little Dipper. Last run was Sasquatch and then Wilderness...where I got thrown into the backseat. Those bumps and pow were great. SM loved Sasquatch. We then hit Caveman. Wow. Still great...even with the irate father and his son...

And it was already 4:15! So we headed back to MidBurke and then Apres ski at the Tamarack Pub. Dick Andross was surprised to see us there...and me out so late. We had a great day....the snow and trees were amazing. Great to have the Snowmonsters back (Lil' Snowmonster did cruisers in the afternoon and reported that Lower Mountain was "crowded" and only worth one run).

The weekend album.

Thanks again for the guided tour and the company (and the pictures), TB. As I told you, last Sunday was the first anniversary of Burkeapalooza II. It was great to be back at such a great mountain.

I was amazed at the details you captured in your trip report -- the adventures on "Pocahontas" (hey, that tree jumped in front of me), the snow bunny (apparently, my neighbor), the injured skier and boarder (the trees jumped in front of them too) and the Nazi father (un-frickin'-believable)! That father and son combo was something else, wasn't it? A lesson on how not to make your son love skiing. I mean, jeezum crow (new phrase for me haha), the man was torturing his poor son in the woods! I hope we cross paths with the snow bunny someday. I should have jumped in an asked her to ski with us. With a wingman like me, you'll never get hits. Anyway, next time, we'll be better.

The beauty of your trip report was what you left out. I can think of 3 or 4 glorious runs and tree shots we did that you didn't mention. I guess people will just have to take the tour to find out.

Thanks again for spending time with me and the li'l SM. I appreciate the tour. It's very apparent that you love this mountain. It was a treat to ski Burke and we can't wait for the next time.

Jeezum crow!

SM: thanks for your kind words.

Yes, that Snow Bunny needs to ski Burke more often....

And I think we need to get LSM into the woods....glad you liked the trees. That second to last run is a new favorite of mine...nice stuff.
