Thanks for nelsapbm for directing my attention to the article that appeared in today's Caledonian Record.

Some other highlights:

* 50 new snowguns
* New administrative building going up on the lower mountain
* The $39 ticket for Vermonters and locals. :beer:
* 8am skiing and riding for passholders on weekends and holidays :beer: :beer:
* More renovations to the lower lodge
* And according to the article at least, the MidBurke road was repaved and regraded. They must have just done this because when I was up there three weeks ago it was the same, rutted, potholed obstacle course. This would be a huge improvement. :beer: :beer: :beer: to that!

The article.

The Mid-Burke road has not been repaved, just "upgraded".
Old timers returning to Burke this year, will be pleasantly surprised as they drive to Mid Burke Lodge at the upper part of the mountain. The access road has been completely upgraded. Gone are the potholes. The road has also been widened.
It has simply been gravel filled again. However, this time the gravel is MUCH deeper. You can't tell that the road was ever paved. It will likely get potholely again but I doubt it will ever get as bad as the pavement enhanced potholes.

I'm psyched for the 8:00 lift opening :daffy:

Received this from the mountain this morning:

After an extended stretch of unseasonably warm weather in November, temperatures in northern Vermont dipped low enough yesterday for the Burke Mountain snowmaking team to begin making snow. Temperatures reached the mid-20’s by mid-afternoon Monday enabling the crew to begin blowing snow on the Lower Warren’s Way trail, the training hill for the athletes from the Burke Mountain Ski Academy. The ski area plans to open on December 9th.

Hmm, what is the difference between a Vermonter and a local if Burke is in VT?

8am skiing and riding for passholders on weekends and holidays is a chapter from the Stratton book of how to alienate day trippers.

Local means that folks from Coos County, NH and whatever county Littleton is in (Grafton?) can get the Vermonter rate.
