In past years, I always scavaged around and kept my kids in skiis..except for 2 years ago, and I rented a lot at the Mountain...wasn't going through that again...They boy's growing like he's putting miracle grow on his ceral..

So last year I dropped some bucks to rent...there was a plus for the boy because by the time we hit the slopes, he had already outgrown the boots we fit him in septemeber so we could just exchange them...found this when we at Bellayre though...so much for saving money..

Anywa I figure I droped 300 for rentals...for 3 kids...kinda insults my intelligence...and when they wanted another 300 for deposit I was like forget it..but still did it...now it seems like a hook, because they say, well you can keep the equiptment, and we keep the othe 3...so I'm not thrilled, and I imagine I can go back now, give them another 3, they keep the deposit, and refit the kids...

I feel like I'm being taken...

What does anyone esle do with kids around 12/9/7

Buy for the 11 year old, hand his equipment down to the 9 year old. Since they're both boys and growing at a similar rate, that works for us.

My 3 year old already has a quiver of equipment that'll last him for many years.

Many shops carry used equipment for kids. Buy good used gear, take it back next season for about a 50% trade in on more gear. I did it for all 3 of my kids over the years and found it very cost effective.

Try going to a ski swap at one of the mountains, you'll find most have them in the fall. Also alot of places sell off their rental/demo gear at the end of the season, or at the ski swap. Our local mountain has one every year where a percentage of the sales go to the all volunteer ski patrol.

1 word....EBAY...is that even really a word yet? If it's not....i'm sure it'll soon be included in some version of a dictionary.
