I was thinking about this driving into work this morning and i cant go back too far.

I remember one unreal bluebird powder day at pico in 1989. A rare light snow, no wind storm. I'll never forget being the 2nd or 3rd one down upper k.a. Other than that, they are all more recent.

A saturday at killington in early april of 01. they had gotten 2 straight dumps around 12-18" each. The bumps on wildfire and needles liftline were incredibly soft and perfectly formed.

The 2 april storms last year. One a semi suprise 6"er on top of an earlier big snow. Hit alot of stuff at killington with powhunter and jonnypoach. april 6th i believe it was. Then repeated that about a week later skiing during an almost blizzard. Also killington. i think that one changed to rain later but the day was incredible. refresh on every run.

And i gotta go with magic this past thursday just cause it was so much damn fun. Not a total powder day but just soft little hucks everywhere and awesome company.

top day is split between my two powder days at crotched this year. #3 is my day at TUX last year, followed by #4 sunday after the v-day storm at ragged. #5 i guess would be the saturday of MLK this year at loon. Not the best conditions but the day was a blast.

I can't..Nipple deep at Bridger bowl is probably one of them..one of them is probably a huge poe day at Stowe..and one of them might have been one of my huge powder days at Jackson Hole from 2006..it's tough because I've had more than 5 top 5 days..

In no particular order:

Magic last Thursday, sweet snow and good friends.
MRG this past V-Day, nice snow and my first solo trip to anywhere other than Sundown.
MRG last good friday, sweet snow and good friends, also my first real trip there.
Magic after the V-Day storm last year, sweet snow good friends and good times. One of my first times in that much fresh snow...

Seeing a pattern here???

1. Stowe, i think it was 1994, 18 inches of fresh on a weekday with an 8th grade school trip, and my first intro to powder. redic.

2. 55 degrees and soft bumps everywhere at Deer Valley last year in mid-March.

3. 1996, March, Okemo. Nice sunny day, struggling in the bumps when an 8 y/o from the race program cut me off, skied the zipper right in front of me as I followed, and i had a complete "voila" moment.

4. My first day on skis at Gore, 1992. SO much fun!

5. 40+ inches in 3 days for Spring Break, Jr. yr in college (March 2001), at Killington with a bunch of fun people.

And runner up

6. Spring Break 2002 at Vail. Bluesky day, hucked Lovers Leap, then had lunch at top of Blue Sky Basin (I think), and it was the best chili I ever had (buffalo meat, fresh beans, add your own fixins, and so on).

Hoping to replace one of these next week at Breck with all the same people from trips that spawned 2, 5, and 6 on my list!

Don't think I can pick top 5. I only have 1 weekend that is my criteria for being able to say "best day" and that was Stowe for St. Pattie's last year.

In no order....

2- 3 days after a northeaster before v day, went to ragged and that was the first time I skied the ravine, plenty of powder stashes.

Mid of April after a spring storm, on a weekday, I called in sick and went to ragged, had the whole place to myself and was skiing powder over groomed terrain, a surreal experience.

Skiing with my daughter at Nashoba Valley, first time she went from snowplow to parallel.

Doing soft bumps and glades up at bretton woods with the family.

1. April 20, 2007 Killington under 60 degree bluebird sky. Just the kind of day you don't want to end even when your legs tell you it's impossible to keep going.

2. 2004 Copper Sun shining, skiing deep powder, good friends, a blast at apres. Copper isn't my favorite mountain, but it all does seem to come together there.

3. 2005 Vail. This was probably my third time skiing there, but the first in which I sort of attacked the bowls .Spent nearly the entire day at Blue Sky, and almost as many hours at the Red Lion afterward.

4. Stowe, 1994. Random Saturday in March during a dump....made our way down from college in Burlington for the day, and it took us almost 3 hours to get back it was snowing so hard. Well worth it, as you can imagine.

5. Whatever the next month-plus promises. This I am confident in.

If you asked me about "most memorable", you'd get a very different answer.

January, 1981, Wachusett Mountain. Temp was around 5F, and it was windy. Riding on the chair lift about 8pm, lift breaks down. sat there for 50 minutes. Nothing we could do but sit - no way to move around and get warm. Besides, I was sitting next to a stranger, not my hunny... When the lift finally turned, we got off and skied down to the lodge and never went out again. "Frigid" took on a whole new meaning.

January, 1984 Saddleback Maine. Low minus 25. High, minus five degrees. One, maybe two runs between breaks. I was afraid to ski too fast, for fear my eyeballs would freeze.
