Resort or Ski Area: Cannon Mtn

Conditions: Dense...wet....fresh

Trip Report:
On Tuesday the notch had funneled the southerly winds into a frenzy. While snow gently piled up in Lincoln it whipped in all directions on Cannon. I really wasn't sure what Wednesday would bring.

Throughout the night temps had risen across the region and by morning there was a crust on top of the 8" that fell in Lincoln. Cannon was a different story. It had come down wet the whole time and the wind had packed it into a dense frosting. The upper mountain was socked in as usual but the snow up top was a touch dryer than down low so I started to lap the Cannonball chair. Viz was terrible on open trails...so into the trees.

This was heavy hard turning snow. Knee tearing snow. Still wary of a knee injury from wet snow at the end of last season, I ditched the skis after about 2 hours and grabbed the board. Much more manageable.

It wasn't a light fluffy powder day. But we've had plenty of those so far this year. What we really needed was some dense, consolidated base making snow. This was it. The trees and BC are going to ski superbly now.

Here's a little ski/snowboard mashup...

Cool stuff, I was there too.Bumps were skiing great. Short Fuse was fantastic as was some other little woods shot I don't know what it is called. Woods were much better than I thought they would be. Recognized a lot form the video (well some stuff, a lot of the woods looks familiar?) Also nice drop at the end of the video I was the first to hit the bigger one yesterday ;) Great day of skiing for sure!

I skied Kinsman 1st time ever Saturday. Unbelievable! Tons of soft snow. But a bit over my head. I'll need to focus on improving my tree skiing skills before going back. Maybe a lesson from ur son
