Conditions: PP and Firm with some scraped off conditions late.
After skiing Jay Peak the day before and not caring for it too much, we looked forward to skiing Cannon in comparison. One of the people we skied with at Jay said Cannon was worse and we should ski Jay instead. We almost did, but our kids wanted to ski Cannon. I am really glad we did. We skied two sessions on in the morning up to lunch and then one in the afternoon until 3 ish.
The morning session we skied with two of our sons, two friends from MA and my brother-in-law. We headed straight to the summit via the Peabody chair. We lapped the summit lift for 3 runs skiing Upper Ravine, Profile and then Upper Cannon. On the last run, we continued down Big Link->Spookie->Extension->Avalanche->Banshee. We then skied all of the front trails except Gary's (Closed to Racing). Up to this point conditions were fantastic with the exception of Pauli's Folly, but that was still fine. Our last run before lunch had us skiing down Jasper to the Tram and we were able to get right on the next ride up. Our run down was Vista Way->By Pass->Gremlin with the exception of our boys who went down Parkway in stead of Gremlin.
Lunch was a cool event - we were eating with those we had been skiing with and then Puck it and MadMadWorld joined us. A rather eclectic group if I might add made up of family, Ride and Ski friends and AZoners. After a couple beers, we headed back out and made runs with Puck it, MadMadWorld, brother-in-law, wife, and sons.
We basically lapped the summit chair and made runs on Taft Slalom, Upper Ravine and Skylight with our last run up top being Upper Cannon->Big Link->Lower Scrabble->Turnpike Glade->Lower Ravine. We then headed up Peabody chair skied down Middle Ravine where Puck it left but MadMadWorld and I headed over to the from trails and made runs on Zoomer and Avalanche as well as Lower Cannon to head back to the lodge. It was fun making runs with somebody new! Hopefully there will be more in the future with more glades!
My wife and I made a couple relaxing runs off the Peabody chair before heading in while the boys played in the parks! overall I was very happy with the conditions and skiing with a broad mix of people.
Thanks Puck it and MadMadWorld for the runs!
