Resort or Ski Area: Cannon, NH

Conditions: PP, Blowoff, 20s and cloudy bottom, 10s (with windhcills <0) and flurries up top

Trip Report:

Got up there around 10... headed up to the summit and hit the 3 glades, so beautiful with lots of snow on the pines. Icy in the higher-traveled routes but also some spots with boot-deep powder. Not bad. Ride on the quad was brutal... can't believe it's March 26th. Hit Kinsman next, TONS of snow on the top half. A few slick spots, but much better than I was expecting. Got a bit crappy at the bottom but nothing too bad.

Slogged back to Zoomer and headed across to Mittersill. Did 4 runs over there. Some pretty bad spots, and some pretty good spots. Worst were under the lift and Baron's as obviously they are the highest traveled. The narrow hidden trails were in great shape though.

Finished up with Skylight which was pretty good considering how windy it was, followed by top-to-bottom on Hardscrabble. Top was pretty good, middle had icy bumps to start and on the steep had a nice mix of stumps, rocks, dirt, ice, and drifts. Interesting run, but felt good to be done with it at the end.

Surreal that many places are at the end of the road over the next couple weeks, feels like mid-January out there. Hitting Wildcat tomorrow, who has gotten 8" more than Cannon this week... haven't been this excited to try someplace new since MRG.

Nice report. I decided to bag Cannon and hit Wildcat tomorrow myself. Maybe I'll see ya in the singles line. I look nothing like my avatar pic, though.

Another nice report Zand. I was at Cannon Saturday also. This season is absolutely unbelievable. I never would have guessed that on 3/26 I'd STILL be finding new tree lines and powder stashes. Some of the off map stuff was in the best shape in 20(?) years, with untracked lines of boot deep fluff.

It's depressing to think that there is less than 2 weeks left in Cannon's season. The skins will be seeing some serious mileage in April.

I felt bad for the band they had playing outside. These guys are from TX and obviously had been told to expect a sunny spring party atmosphere. Instead it was 20 degrees with a gusty wind. I can't even imagine playing guitar in that. But they kept really positive and sounded good. Although, I'll admit to only staying for one song. I was pretty done with the wind at that point and beers in the Mad River Tavern were a much more appealing option.
