Changing conditions marked the day- cold and cloudy early on, with fast hard groomed surfaces, which led to sunshine and soft snow by mid morning, in turn leading to a storm blowing in in early afternoon with dropping temps, snow, and back to hard, wind blown surfaces on upper Cannon. The Front Five skied well all day, with bumps on skier's right and flats on the left- these deceptively steep runs can generate speed quickly. Zoomer Lift Line was bumped up with the sweetest snow on the lower mountain. Up top, Vistaway also was bumped up with soft natural snow and few scratchy patches that needed to be avoided. Cannonball skied fast all day long. It was more crowded than I expected for a weekday, but we never waited on a line. Groups of kids from the UK looked like they were enjoying themselves- so were we.
Rolled in yesterday just in time for a dramatic sunset, later moonlit skies.
Peabody Express was running at warp speed, but the tram was silent.
Afternoon snow- looking over towards Mittersill.
Snowed all afternoon with no end in sight. Forecast is calling for snow through the night, hopefully at least 3".
And a shout out goes to the AZer who recommended Kinsman Lodge a while back (sorry, can't remember who). Sue & Chet are lovely hosts.
