That is a press release from a politician, not an article.

According to Cannon's general manager two years ago, "from an engineering perspective, the tram itself was essentially rated for an 80-year lifespan. We're about half way through that at this point."

You criticizing an article about Cannon is the richest thing I’ve read in a while. Your bias reeks so much I can smell it from here. They turned you down years ago. Get over it.

I was gonna say, if it's 40 years into an 80-year lifespan what's the rush to replace it? Definitely the first time I've heard this 80 number anywhere.

...unless it's less of a replacement and more of a systems/cabin overhaul. Then I guess you could still sorta call it the same lift.

Cannon has an ancient lift system in general. They need many lift upgrades. How many chairlifts could you replace with 25 million? Why does it seem COVID funds always seem to get wasted intead of wisely spent or invested?

The baseline engineering has an 80 year lifespan, but there are major overhauls needed during that span. The Team is coming up on its big midlife overhaul. So do you spend 10-15 million now on the midlife or do you just go for an all new one with upsized tram boxes now. I assume the new Team they would get would be designed in a more modular component fashion now making repairs/overhauls quicker and less costly than the current system

There is no need whatsoever for the capacity of a 3S, for either summer or winter operations.

Skied Cannon today, bumped into Snoseek which was a pleasant surprise. I used to ski Cannon a lot more so I’ve had distance from it for a few years.

I must be getting more risk-averse because I feel stronger negativity about the whole mid-mountain situation there. Top of Peabody to Cannonball lift is just fucking ridiculous. Any approach to the Cannonball lift is wildly unsafe, relatively speaking to other New England lifts.

Conditions were awesome and horrible within the same 5 second period over and over. I’m genuinely fond of Cannon for the vibe and the (occasional) good days but, Jesus, that place can be a stress test. I’ve been doing too many Gunstock and Bretton Woods days the last few years.

YA, I am getting soft, is my point. Upper Cannon, though, is so great, I missed it. Rocket and Gary’s were a pleasant disaster, with whales and fresh snow and ice all over the place. I couldn’t deal with that bullshit every ski day.

Sun was out, though, which was a treat.

Crazy that things were bad on the front 5, they were blowing like crazy on Saturday on all five but I guess if they don't groom it out it doesn't matter
