Skiing Cannon and looking for hotel recommendation in the Franconia/Littleton or other nearby location. Basic choices online are Best Western in Franconia, Quality Inn in Lincoln, and Thayers Inn in Littleton. All 3 have mixed reviews. Anyone stayed there recently? Any other recommendations?

Hampton Inn in Littleton, Franconia Inn in Franconia.

Really depends what you are looking for. In town or close to mountain? Bar on site? Pool matter?

Franconia inn has a bar in the basement similar to McGrath at long trail but is more of a classic inn than modern hotel. Lincoln and woodstock are also only a dozen minutes away with a number of options and good restaurants in town. Littleton has places to eat and standard big box stores. We stayed at the hampton inn littleton over the summer and it was fine. Hampton inn and best Western are both next to 93.

When are you coming? After a several month run with spectacular skiing in woods and naturals, we have unfortunately entered a freeze/thaw cycle and anything that did not see snowmaking is fading fast.

I don't know why, but the Hampton in Lincoln almost always has better rates than the Hampton in Littleton. This is even true in the off season. I price them both out for work travel frequently.

If I were staying overnight to ski Cannon, I'd stay in Lincoln. Worth the extra ten minute drive if there is any Apres at all on the menu. Not that Littleton and Franconia are absent spots, but Lincoln has more to offer.

Idk littleton is an excellent little town with a couple of good quality spots for supper/drinks. Lincoln has more to do for sure and is more of a ski town but alot of it isn't great imo.

Anyhow I've stayed at thayers a couple times this winter as they run stupid cheap midweek deals. It's a cool old hotel but needs some work.

My main thought behind that statement is if you are into Apres, you can walk to many places in Lincoln from that Hampton vs the one in Littleton you get an Applebee's nearby or you're driving to downtown Littleton. Obviously Schilling is great and downtown Littleton is more "real" than Lincoln.

Thayers location is actually right in the center on the strip so while the rooms are a little creaky and weird the location is perfect. My main reason for staying there though is it's between cannon and jay. If I was just skiing Cannon I would probably opt for Lincoln as well maybe

More of a Littleton guy than Lincoln guy. Like Littleton free house and taproom as well as schillings.

Maybe because Hampton Inn in Lincoln is practically brand new and isn't established in the market yet?

I can only surmise that the Littleton franchise holder has a cost structure they wish to maintain and don't focus on occupancy rate as much as most hotels. I've looked at staying there in late April and early November for work over the years. So basically when no tourists are coming through. Almost always $199 and up. Contrast that to numerous other Hamptons I stay at around New England and if it's off season, they can be around $150 or less

It's just odd to me. I have absolutely never seen a bargain at the Littleton property.

I actually just checked for tonight. Littleton is $188, Lincoln is $135.

What are the fun places in Lincoln (or Franconia), anything like a Worthy Kitchen, brew pub, bistro? Preferring to stay away from Applebees et al. Also is there a good deli to grab a sandwich for the hill? I'll be there midweek, so crowds shouldn't be an issue.

In Lincoln - One Love Brewery is ok. Black Mountain Burger is pretty good. 1764 is good I hear. We have not been. Woodstock Brewery so so. Merlind's is ok
Above the Notch - IFB has good beer limited food. Dutch Treat is a local bar with food. FreeHouse food has gone downhill. SChinllings has taproom, pizza and the grill for options. Reklis has good food and beer. Beal House has good food but limited beer selection. Boo's burger is good if open.

local breweries:

twin barns in woodstock: decent pub style menu, closest to lincoln
woodstock inn and brewery: probably the most complete menu, also close to lincoln
iron furnace in franconia: limited menu, good beer, it is the cannon/FSC hangout
one love in lincoln: i have never been able to get in but hear good things
Reklis in bethlehem: best all around beer and food but a decent drive from lincoln
schilling in littleton: best beer, limited menu, decent drive form lincoln

As for food at cannon, you have the cannonball pub, 4080 pub, plus cafeteria at the top and bottom. It is standard ski area food, nothing special. Tailgate is a daily event this time of year. The groceries and gas are outrageously expensive when you get north of plymouth, makes sense to stop at MB and get gas in plymouth.

I've enjoyed the food from One Love the couple of times I've been. They had some duck confit tacos on the menu last time I was there that were great.

Until many have driven it, lots of people have this perception that Cannon is much, much further away from Lincoln/Loon than it actually is! I know I was 100% of that notion when I 1st went to Cannon now 5 years ago (literally the weekend before Covid shut things down) and the State race team my daughter was on was staying that the Indianhead *cough* Resort *cough* a little out of the main drag in Lincoln on Route 3. I arrived there in the dark, and was amazed the next morning when I plugged Cannon Mountain into my GPS and it said that travel time was either 5 or 6 minutes

Until many have driven it, lots of people have this perception that Cannon is much, much further away from Lincoln/Loon than it actually is! I know I was 100% of that notion when I 1st went to Cannon now 5 years ago (literally the weekend before Covid shut things down) and the State race team my daughter was on was staying that the Indianhead *cough* Resort *cough* a little out of the main drag in Lincoln on Route 3. And downtown Littleton is only 15 minutes or so from Cannon.
