running both t bar and double today, rare occurrence in years past.

question is whether snowmaking is done or they get back at it after the storm and cold this weekend. skylight, turnpike, bypass and lower hard have not seen snowmaking. they also touched up TTS last year but may not need it this year.

I thought Skylight gets covered every year? Any pipe issues?

I know Bypass is often a lost cause due to getting wind ripped, but I still think an effort should be made there as well.

Lake level is low. We're letting it recover a bit. Still need more snow on Upper Baron's, but otherwise we'll head back to Cannon side.

We'll come up to a ceiling soon on our utilities class line appropriation that we have allocated for snowmaking. (Long story on how the state does this versus private sector but happy to share if you're interested).

Bypass looked the best I have seen it. Not windblown, actually had powder on it. I know what is under that powder though…

A bit more complicated than that. No cuts.

Hopefully in your $800 K approved request you have some $$$ to paint the top and bottom Peabody Quad terminals. That looks to have been deferred for a little longer than it should of!

Bottom is done. Can't capitalize paint unfortunately, but we've made room in our ops budget. Place needed a lot of paint.

We (and I ) love Bypass.
As much as I love bypass when good its goes out fast in the spring . Skylight Short fuse Lower hard to Turnpike is a great run late season. Evan when the front goes slurpy on a warm spring day snow stays good on this route almost until noon, only lower turnpike can get slow, then just tuck it all the way.

I think Cannon is my play for Tuesday after the storm. I haven't skied Mittersill in 4 years. I vividly remember trying to get into Golden Birches and I ended up in the woods somewhere else and skied untouched snow in nicely spaced trees that went on and on. Not sure where I actually was or if I'll be able to find it again. I think it was a few hundred feet above Golden Birches.

I had a season pass the year they put that chair in, before they ever added snowmaking or clearcut Baron's. No trail signs. Basically skiing an abandoned ski area but with a new chair. Was a fun adventure that year (and it was 2011 which was one of the snowiest winters in Cannon's history).

Also it will be cold on Tuesday so I won't mind sloggin' to Zoomer from the bottom of Kinsman!

I imagine you gotta save some snowmaking budget for if/when the weather goes bad to keep the season going. I would rather pretend it'll be like it now till mid march, then switch to a perfect 6 week corn cycle.

My main reason for liking when Bypass is open is that it gives advanced skiers an alternate route thru the mid-mountain to give more space to lower level skiers on the easier trails.

And Zand, Kinsman is worth the work as you‘ll see if you do it, the MLK crowd turned some sections of the other glade runs into “bumps in the woods”. One thing though, I ski and skateboard more miles than I walk, muscles (or lack of them) in my legs are sore since the hike back to Zoomer

I thought the shut off was President’s day for the electric rate. What is wrong with the pipe on Paulie’s? It has been down for three years. Are you still down one water pump? Give turnpike some snowmaking.

An arbitrary date re: electric rate matters less than the cash available to pay for staffing and utilities. We're taking it a day at a time, including with where we go next on Cannon. Stay tuned.

Paulie's pipe blew in 2023. Set for replacement near-term. All pumps back online.

So the pipe needs a full replacement. Was the pipe poor quality since it was one of the newer lines.

Question is whether paulies should be replaced. Front is never that busy and paulies is not terribly differentiated from avy and zoomer. Given the choice, I would rather see snow made on lower hard, bypass and turnpike than paulies

Anybody get out today? Not that I'm expecting anything in the way of bad news.

Psyched for tomorrow. Lots of laps in the Upper Mtn woods and Mittersill. Kinsman once or twice. Should be an excellent day.

Daughter did the real Tuckerbrook this afternoon, said it was excellent but of course you either need to thumb back or stage a car.

Heard DJs was scrapped and lousy. Everything I skied on the upper mountain was excellent. Never seen so many people on the saddle, mountain was relatively busy for a Monday. No feedback on mittersill woods but lift line was fun.
