Awesome, but extremely irresponsible...

Next they'll be using stealth technology.

Pretty amazing that they didn't get pulled over. Averaging 100 miles per hour clear across country is just insane.

I can remember in 1994 when I was a college Freshman at Skidmore I was "commuting" between Saratoga Springs and Manhattan during fall midterms to catch the Grateful Dead shows at Madison Square Garden. We'd wander around the city after the shows to sober up, drive the 3.5-4 hours back to Saratoga, maybe catch a couple hours of sleep, take our finals, grab another quick nap and head back to the city for the next night's show. On the final night of the run, we partied a bit too hard and it wasn't until 5AM before one of us (me) was sober enough to drive. We all had 8AM midterm exams. We started North on 87 at a pretty good clip, but when we stopped for gas in Ramapo, we realized even with me driving 80 or so we were screwed and were going to miss our tests if I didn't seriously book it.

It was literally like the scene out of Blues Brothers. We covered the next 100 miles of the thruway in under an hour in a beat up Pontiac Grand Am with the throttle pegged. Miraculously we somehow didn't run into any cops during that stretch. We arrived in Albany with the sun coming up, the road filling with morning commuters and slowed back down to a normal pace as we continued on to Saratoga and we all made it to our tests in the nick of time.

There have been very few times since then that I've driven a car over 100 mph, none in the last 10 years or so. The fact I drove a car that fast for 100 miles straight in my youth baffles me to even think about. What those ballzy mother f'rs did driving clear across country is pretty mind blowing.

I Watched the sun go down last night on the mass pike, come up in ohio, crossed the Mississippi and drove most of Iowa and have settled near Omaha 25 orso hours later. I drove pretty damn fast, stopped only for gas/piss/coffee. I can't imagine going coast to coast in 24, blows my mind
