I'm jealous of anyone who managed to get out and ski today (Saturday). It looks super out there.

I'm stuck working, but took a look at Cannon's website and they're showing Tramline and Kinsman Glade open!!!

I've never seen those trails open, ever.

Riding up the tram I look at the rocks and boulders below and only imagine what an awesome run that must be if it ever got decent cover.

So how is it? Who's skied it and what shape is it in?
Should I bring my rock skis? I'm heading up here tomorrow.

it's quite a fun trail. on thursday there was lots of pow up top and down low since it just got opened on march 3rd when i skied it. it pinches off once just above tower 1 and there's some interesting boulders and cliffs to negociate below tower 1 with some mandatory air. this is really the only technically difficult part of the trail, but it is technically difficult enough that non-expert skiers that can't ski any trail in any condition would be advised against trying it.

kinsman glade opened last weekend and was total crap. really scraped and rocky and stumpy and all sorts of nastiness. i didn't ski it thursday, so i don't know if that changed.

neither opened last year to the best of my knowledge, but they were both opened at various times two years ago, the first year they were put on the map.

definitley bring your rock skis.

:)

I watched a few skiers pick thier way through the Tram-Line trail below the exposed rocks while passing by this afternoon...and it looked very interesting...I may have to force myself to check it out next weekend...

Anyone else interested in going?

fwiw, according to cannon's web site the tramline is closed again. :(

there was more than enough snow above tower 1 and on the lower part of the trail, so i imagine the closure is due to the crux move around the boulders getting completely skied off making the move dangerous. or perhaps cannon is erring on the side of caution consindering the trail.

in either case, more snow on the way for tuesday and maybe friday night, so hopefully it'll be opened up again for next weekend!
