This is huge news covered by: The Boston Globe, Union Leader and others. You can complain about where I'm posting it, but it's new worthy to outdoor enthusiasts. I get that you two guys are too old to care about the wreak lessness of water. :giggle:

Proper ski board etiquette would be to challenge me to a ski - off.
It's not Cannon. That's why they are commenting.

Wasn't on the Franconia rescue, But this one was tough to take....

BOTH of these last 2 fatalities were caused by parents admittedly not supervising their own children around rapidly moving currents.....

Do not blame the kids.
Parents need to be more responsible.

Man tries to save wife. DOA...
This was in the valley...

You have to admit it's kind of odd that adults can't figure out the whole water thing.

Let's keep this thread on topic--the incident at Cannon.

BOGO on stranded hikers in Franconia notch. :)

At least the hikers from Quebec seemed to know what to do. So, there's that.

@BodeMiller1, it's truly unfortunate to hear about such incidents, and our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic event. Accidents can happen unexpectedly, even in areas that seem familiar. As we reflect on these moments, it's a reminder to stay cautious and prioritize safety, especially when exploring nature.
While discussing such topics might be difficult, considering a lasting memorial to honor those who have passed can provide a sense of comfort.
If you're interested, you might explore options like flat headstones with pictures from Mattos Monuments to create a lasting tribute. Take care, and stay safe out there.

Every step you take is a life and death move, decissions made in a tenth of a second affect the outcome and mistakes take off expodentially. Knowing how to pivot, turn and twist in the air are not just for ice and snow. A fall of tewenty feet onto stone is almost certain death..
