So I'm sitting on my next door neighbor's porch having a few beers with him and my brother-in-law (Colin for those of you who have skied with him.) We hope to go camping during the middle of next week. We're thinking of heading up to the Cape. We're looking for something very close to the water...on the beach even. They like to fish (I don't) and we all have Kayaks...any suggestions? It's just going to be the boys so a family campground is not necessary, if not frowned upon.

I've always stayed at this place: http://www.abcapecod.com/ in the past it has been a very tightly run family campground, the owner was very tightly wound and to be honest I always appreciated that, the place was very well run. However, the place has been sold and is not run as well as it used to be, so it may now better suit your needs. It is about a mile from the ocean. The beach there is the national seashore and if you have a four wheel drive, you can purchase an off road permit and drive your vehicle right on the beach. One of our favorite past times has always been driving on the beach late at night, bringing some beach chairs, starting a fire(you need at permit for this, no cost) and just hanging out. The trip to the beach is on dark back roads, so that if you have a few, no worry about DWIs, I've never seen anyone walk this road or cops in the evening.

People fish right off the beach at night, once and only once, I saw them catching fish at a rate of about 1 every two minutes.

This place is about 15 minutes outside of Provincetown, so you and Colin should fit right in :)

Keep in mind it's late, campgrounds do fill up quick, I would call ASAP, if you plan on going this week.

if you have the proper set up, you can get a 4x4 beach pass/fishing and you can sleep on the beach as well
