If they offer more coverage than the basic required by law, you can bet that they make more money on the extended coverage. Therefore, in the long run, odds are you're best off with the least insurance possible.

Don't ask me my opinion of insurance in general...

GEICO, $2000/year for me, '06 Subaru, lowest options all around except for $1000 deductible comprehensive/collision, required for my loan.

There's something about 23 yr old males with 290hp cars that insurance companies don't like. I'm looking forward to my 25th birthday and home ownership.

You have the Sti??? I have the base model..I joke that it's an STi that's 15 grand cheaper and no wing..lol

I thought about swapping for a WRX trunk lid, but that would have cost more money and it would be harder to pick the car out in parking lots. Plus, I like the thought of annoying people in their BMWs and M-Bs by something as stupid as a goofily big wing, even if it doesn't.

I wish I had your brakes, though. Smallest tires I can get for it are 225 width, which are awful in the snow. Might make the swap when it comes time to replace the $400/corner rotors; if you're not actually racing, those things are just extra unsprung weight.

Agreed ! My dad and grandfather were in the insurance business and it s wise to make sure you have THE RIGHT coverages

But its equally important to UNDERSTAND what you should/shouldn't use insurance for

Agreed 100% Because of being a small business owner who is atleast perceived by the general population as making a few bucks  and as someone who has a household employee (a part time nanny) my wife and I carry a whole variety of insurances, from auto with higher per incident coverages, to general liability umbrella policies for the household. Nationwide has my business, total for the year for all they have my household insurance needs covered: 2 cars ('02 Chevy trailblazer + '07 Audi Q7), homeowners of both my primary residence in CT and my ski place in VT, a generalized liability umbrella policy, and flood insurance for my place in CT due to some wetlands being just over my property line:rolleyes: including my long standing good policy holder "every insurance need covered" status is just under $5500 a year.

If you through in the multitude of insurance policies I have for my practice and the partnership agreement I'm in with that and combine those with with home policies, I'm covered in one form or another by 9 different policies currently right now. No wonder why my wife from time to time "encouranges" me to ski without my helmet on! ;)

I have a policy through MetLife with our agent. Geico was literally more than twice as expensive  Unreal. When I lived in VT, it was like $600 for the year. Big jump moving down to central NH, up to about $800 a year. 99 Saturn SC2 with full coverage, license for 10 years, and no accidents or tickets... for the record. But still.... pretty cheap for this legalized and often mandated gambling.

Safety. $1200/year, 1 car- 2006 TSX. No accidents, points, or problems. We have a great agent, though.

This is actually NOT true. But what is most important is your UM/SUM coverage. That type of coverage insures yourself. You want to make sure you have that pretty high so when Joe Schmo, who has no assets and minimal insurance cracks up your car and your back and ski legs, you have some redress. Problem is most carriers won't let you have more UM/SUM coverage than your liability limits. But its by far most important, as I've said, it insures you. Your regular liability coverage insures Joe Schmo when he sues you. And Mondeo, it's not that much more to up your UM/SUM coverage as you'd think!

I use Travellers and my insurance is about $100 a month on a 2006 Impreza..I had one accident..I hit a tombstone..for real...and they paid for my repair minus the $500 deductible..

You sell caskets and hit a tombstone with your car? Truly hilarious.

I pay $600/year for full coverage on an 02 Legacy (Progressive).

We have Liberty Mutual and we just got our policy renewal this year for $1225 which includes my wife's 2003 Mazda MPV and my 2004 Mazda6, we get a discount due to having the house insured with them as well.

I was just involved in an accident on March 20th when an older guy backed into my car when I was parked in the Coventry market as he was not looking to his left and turned his wheel and side swiped my car doing about $1,600 in damage to my quarter panel.

This guy has AIG and they are being very cheap with paying me a claim.
