I'm headed up to Lake Placid next weekend, and I meeting up with a few groups of people. Can anyone tell me what the cell phone coverage is generally like up there? I'm wondering if I need to make detailed meeting plans with people before hand, or I will just be able to call people as necessary. For anyone that is familiar, I'll be staying at the Lake Placid Club Lodges on Mirror Lake.

I have Verizon and have no trouble with service at the mountain or in LP.

Yep ... depends on your service. At Mount Snow I get full bars with verizon, but my cingular and t-mobile friends can't get a signal at all.

Verizon had the hot spots virtually everywhere. From Killington, to Mount Snow and all through the Adirondacks it has worked for me.

Yep I never have any problems with Verizon. I'm sure I said this before, but on 9/11 I was able to get a "I'm OK" call out to my wife (fiance` at the time) from Manhattan on my Verizon phone. For that reason alone, I'll never switch.

Thanks for the fast response guys. I know the group has as mix of cell phone providers...Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Any ideas if the others have coverage up at Lake Placid?

I have cingular/ATT. And I am making a farting noise with my mouth. Best bet is to ride the gondola and right after that part where you go down a little bit, you can get sweet reception all the wa y to the top. Otherwise service is dead unless you want to stand at the peak.
