That the home version?
Keurig makes more money licensing the K-Cup than anything else. They're sort of like Xerox- they don't sell copiers, they sell toner. Keurig doesn't even actually sell the coffee- they get 4 cents (last I saw) as a royalty payment for every K-Cup someone else packages and sells. Awesome business model. Coffee isn't bad, either.

You can simply invest in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters(GMCR) and when you look at their charts you will wish you had. Split 3 to 1 awhile back. I used the machines at LL Bean and at the Bush, great tasting coffee plus the tea option makes it almost perfect. It was only a matter of time before they pushed the home use market. It's been availible for several years and now they hoping for big holiday sales. BTW, GMCR reports on Thursday(11/15)

Ordered one last night as a xmas gift for the wife on ebay. $149, no shipping and included a box servings. Figure between the two of us we spend about $30+/week at d and d so itwill be paid for in no time.

Wow- bet Green Mountain et al weren't real excited about Keurig rolling that out.

No, perhaps not! Although they sell it on their web site, so maybe?

I love Green Mountain coffee. Some places don't brew it strong enough, but when done right, it's one of my favorites. The former Bagel Basement (curse me for not remembering the new name) in Ludlow just down Rte 103 from Okemo does it right. Yum. That morning coffee and bagel actually makes me miss my VT->MA commute every Monday.

My #1 favorite is Mad River Blend, from Mad River Roasters on Rte 49 just off I-93 heading to Waterville Valley. A little place, and now unfortunately overshadowed by a huge Dunkins that opened up across the street, but wicked good coffee.

The Breakfast Club in Allston serves Green Moutnain. Good coffee there. Excellent, really. Fantastic, even.

My latest kick has been Newman's Own Organic Extra Bold. Roasted, mixed and ground by Green Mountain. They do make excellent coffee.

Keurig is owned by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters as they came up with the single size thing at least 5 years ago for the machines. McDonalds coffee is Paul Newman coffee made by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.

"On June 15, 2006, Green Mountain Coffee acquired Keurig, Inc. Keurig Inc. sells its single cup brewers, coffee and tea "

Interesting. That hadn't occured when we did the Keurig case study in an MBA class. I don't think Green Mountain buying Keurig was ever considered as an option. of couorse, the case was more focused on whether Keurig should go after the residential market or not.
