If the purchase of the Mount Snow ski resort and the Attitash ski resort is completed by Peak Resorts, Inc., it is anticipated that a combination of products for season passes will be sold beginning April 9, 2007 , or earlier. This date is subject to modification and the terms and conditions are contingent upon completion of the purchases. '

I like mt. snow and am considering the pass, but i've never been to attitash or crotched. Mt snow is great if you like blue groomers, and it has a decent park. Northface has some legitimate blacks and very good glades. How are attitash and crotched? whats the price for these passes lookings like?

Mount Snow and Attitash are both great mountains... one thing you will notice is both are in serious need of physical plant investments IE new lifts. But both have great terrain. Tons of Blues at Mount Snow with great character... the North Face is awesome. Rarely crowds, steep groomers, bumps, great trees, Ripcord (steepest marked run in east, albeit short). Although the place can get mobbed, you will find a really nice/well mannered clientele there, which I find a rarity on weekends. This year it actually replaced my usual trek north to Killington.

I haven't been to Attitash in years but I remember a mountain with great terrain (I do remember Ptarmigan and Tim's Trauma) and 100% snowmaking.

If i lived farther north this new pass would be great.

I've been to attitash more than any other mountain, mainly for convinience......while it's not one of the most popular or biggest, there's plenty of challenging terrain there, and plenty for begginers as well.....and you can't beat it's location to North Conway...I love the place.

I think Attitash is one of the most underrated ski areas in New England.

It may not have the stats..vertical, # of lifts, etc... of some of the bigger areas. But every time I have skiied there I've had a great day of skiing. Perhaps it's due to the lower overall elevation, but it generally doesn't seem to get the harsh winds and ice that places like Cannon and Wildcat get.

I always park at the Bear Peak lot. The parking lot, lodge, and trails are less crowded than the main area. Probably because there are no beginner trails there. Bear Peak does have plenty of interesting intermediate and advanced terrain. Particularly the terrain off the Abenaki quad, which seldom has more than a few people in line.

The proximity to North Conway is a big plus as well. Unlike so many upscale resort ares, North Conway has a great variety of lodging, dining, and entertainment at all price levels. It has it's own charm and character without the pretentiousness of many other ski towns.

Attitash is also very convenient to Jackson. If you're looking for the quintisential Currier & Ives New England village, Jackson is the place.

have you happened to notice how poorly they made snow this year. no lower ptamigan, timm's trama, and halfpipe to mention a few. these are all snowmaking trails, asc ran this mountain into the ground.

It is going to be interesting to see how Peak Resorts steps up to the task at hand...

anything will be an improvment. asc should be ashamed of how they funded this mountain. The halfpipe sits empty for all to see, wtf? before they worry about new chairs and expansion (which attitash could use) the operating budget needs to improve. I've skied this mountain a fair amount over the years mainly because of the drive and am very happy to see it sold. attitash is a fun mountain (although groomed to death) and i look forward to the new owners

we always make at least one trip a year to Attitash and actually bought a time share across the street from the hill. Riding predominately southern VT mtns because of drive time(Stratton/Okemo/Snow) 0n wekends all year, going to Attitash is like a breath of fresh air. low key clientele, lack of crowds (very short or non-existent lift lines) and decently challenging terrain. Another plus is North Conway for the Non skiing part of the family.
It is the famillies favorite Mtn to visit.

I live in Mass...how would the drive there compare to getting to Loon?

That is really too bad about Attitash, but it sounds exactly how they have treated the rest of their mountains. The times I went there in the mid 90's must have been pre-ASC because it was apparent snowmaking was priority #1 there. The terrains was excellent as well. I think the future is going to be very exciting for skiing around here.... I look forward to improvements of ANY type at the mountains.

when I was skiing at burke last week, they were hosting the vt. j4 races. there were alot of folks from mt. snow and during chair lift/lunch discussions, I mentioned that I skied at Crotched. Everyone was a) very interested and hopeful in Peaks' mgmt b) disgusted/bitter about Snow is currently run. Comments/Questions like "Do they have enough people picking up the base lodge eating areas, etc." People were delighted to hear about snow conditions, willingness to invest.

i agree with an earlier posters comment about watching how Peaks' run these very different type of resorts compared to what I perceive are strictly day destinations in the mid-west & bennigton.

QQ. Day destinations? I'm going to assume you mean 1 day destinations. :) I wouldn't consider being open till 3am 'day' :)

no, I was referring to the two new additions (snow & attitash) targeting the overnite customer plus both mtns have a significant real estate revenue component (condos, land development, hotel) - I assume these assets/properties are being purchased as part of the acquisition. This is opposed to the day trip resort that they run at crotched and I assume their 300' hills in the mid-west.

I have noticed the lack of snowmaking this year. However, I can see why they didn't as obviously plans were in the works to unload it. I guess they figured why bother spending $ making snow if they're just gonna sell it anyway.

That being said, I work on the weekends and am off 2 days midweek, which allowed me to get up there for the valentines storm, so snowmaking wasn't really an issue for me. :) Everytime I got up there, (only 3) it was after a decent amount of snow had dropped.

I too am excited to see the sale, hopefully it's for the better. I would love to see some sort of expansion, however I doubt it'll happen.

As for the drive, it takes me 3 hours to get to Loon, and 3.5 to get to Attitash. (coming from RI). The extra half hour is more than worth it as I personally would ski attitash just about any day over Loon.

NOW IF I CAN JUST FIND A WAY TO GET OUTTA WORKING THIS WEEKEND AND HEAD UP THERE! :(

Hi all.

Just wanted to pipe in, because I am familar with Peak Resorts.
I live in Ohio were they own two ski areas (Boston Mills and Brandywine).
They treat the two as though they are one and you can ski both interchangably.
When I heard about them buying Attitash and Mt. Snow I was going to pose the question to the owner of Boston Mills (part owner of Peak Resorts) but I didn't get a chance.

I do expect some sort of arrangement between the resorts next year. I wish I could be exact.

It will be interesting to see how they respond to the needs of a destination resort vs. a small ski area.

I only skiied there a couple of days this year(once on a Saturday, once during Feb. school vacation week). Both times we pretty much stuck with the Bear Peak side. I think both times, we made our way over to the Attitash side then decided to go back over to Bear after a single run. i'd spend moretime on the Attitash side if it were a non-peak weekday, but (like most places) it can be a zoo on busy days.

I haven't been inside the main Attitash lodge in many years, so I can't comment on the upkeep. I would say that the facilties in general on the Attitash side look like they could use some updating and sprucing up.

I wouldn't neccessarily say that about Bear Peak. The lodge area looks fine to me; the bathrooms seem clean. It's certainly among the more user friendly base lodges. An easy, flat walk from the parking lot to the lodge. Inside the lodge, everything is on a single level... no stairs inside or outside the building. The time from parking the car to riding the lift is shorter than at just about any other area in NE.

As far as making snow, I won't beat up ASC too much on that. Sure, I'd love to see every single gun in full operation anytime the temp is low enough. Financially, it's just not feasable. Although much of ASC's $$$ issues were due to their zealous expansion, a good deal of it was beyond their control. Snow making consumes an enormous amount of energy. Over the last couple of years, high fuel costs, along with lack of natural snow during critical peak tourist periods, just killed them.
