You might have me with that one. Being as I am, and not a huge fan of other people, if I can get to Whiteface on the weekend and not see big crowds, not even stand on line for more than 5 minutes, that very well could entice me to make the drive...

A free lift ticket wouldn't hurt either.

I'd like to hear the reasoning why there are no crowds

Probably the same reasoning places like Holiday Valley, Mountain Creek, and Wa-Wa are crowded. You think those places ski better then WF?

Since you drive by WF all the time to continue to drive to N.Vt. for 2 hours I guess you know it isn’t real close to major population centers.

Also, many people have it in their mind that it is much more remote then it really is.

Can't you ski from the peak??

This is as high as the Summit Chair goes. If you dropped into the Slides (right) from the highway above you would still be below the actual summit.

Weird because did they have a chair lift to the peak when you where in high school? How could you have skied there and not know you can't ski from the true summit?

They had the summit triple then and from the summit triple to the lower lodge was 3216 vert..and at the time I didn't think about earning turns above the lift..and even got yelled at for going in the woods...but off in the distance was Mount Mansfield with a heck of alot more snow on the ground...

Then if you knew you can't ski from the peak what did you ask the question for.

You can see Stowe on a clear day, but you sure as hell can't measure snow depth there from WF. You can see Sugarbush too, but I'm never sure which one it is because besides Mansfield all those little mountains look alike. ;-)

Talk about being on the same page, I was thinking the same thing .. brings back memories of first night's liberty after being out at sea for 3 months.. all the women looked pretty.

And from an available female standpoint, 3 months at sea on a... what were you own... I'd imagine you as a Spruance class kinda guy.... is barely distinguishable from a semester at my alma mater, WPI.
