Did anyone catch the CPTV program tonight on adaptive/disabled skiing? I caught the last 10 min or so of it... wish I had seen more. It's kind of ironic I happened upon it, actually. I had just (also by chance) finished watching "At First Sight" with Val Kilmer (based on the true story of a man who was blind from about age 1, had surgery to restore his vision, and then went blind again in less than 2 months). Took out my contacts and tried to envision skiing that way. I'm extremely near-sighted - can't see clearly past a few inches from my nose. It was a scary thought. Went into the bedroom, and lo and behold, here was a program about disabled people skiing...and it just happened to be on the part with blind skiers. I was amazed! I knew of adaptive programs before, but I never realized the scope! And the determination and dedication these people put into the sport! I'm not sure I would be so strong. (BTW, I was totally humbled by a man who learned to ski after going blind - he was skiing bumps awesomely! Or the dude hucking and bumping on one leg! )
In any case, it was an interesting progression of chance viewing tonight and I was just curious if anyone else had seen the whole program. They have a website, too: http://www.heroesoftheslopes.com/Welcome.html
