....Woodstock, VT, 1934.

Was driving by on Saturday and detoured to see the marker. Here's a couple of pics. It's a nifty place.....beautiful. The afternoon sun was dipping below the hill tops, and I had a steaming mug of great coffee in hand....

And it got me thinking about skiing. About what I give to the sport, as opposed to what skiing gives to me. We live in a take, take, take....then take some more kind of society....and skiing is a sport that provides ample opportunities to give.

As the season ramps up, I wonder.....what will I give back to skiing ? What will you ?

And now we interrupt this existential moment to bring you a 36" dump.....

Well.... I actually pay a lot of money for lift tickets... I hear what your saying on a existential level and wot-not... But I don't think I owe anything to a mountain other than respect to the earth...

As far as the human level... Respect again.. Expecially to people that keep the industry thriving, fun and safe.

I give a lot - but other then the piece of trash I pick up or the trail mainentaince I perform - it's tough to quantify the rest...

One thing people can do to help is to spend $$ in the ski towns rather than a rest stop on the highway..
