Date(s) Skied: Friday 12/26/08, 9:30AM - 2:15 PM
Resort or Ski Area: Crotched Mountain, NH
Conditions: Groomed Hardpack with some manmde on top, temps in low 20s to 30s
Trip Report:
First family ski trip. Overall a good day considering the NCP event a few days before...lots of groomed hardpack in the morning with a little bit of manmade snow on a few trail sections. No lift lines in the morning, but it was starting to get crowded in the afternoon. Super Nova (off the double) got crowded after lunch, but the blues and blacks (basically all blues) had plenty of space.
I stuck to the groomers all day...my son did try out the Solstice Glades (between Galaxy and Magnitude) but ended up having to walk a part of the way out. I was having some problems with ski chatter when making turns to the left, especially on the steeper section of Pluto's Plunge. It was my first day skiing hardpack with my new Elans, but the problem didn't occur when making turns to the right, so I'm assuming that it was primarily a technique issue. Think I may get my skis in for a tune as well...
Still had fun, but I miss the soft snow that we had last weekend...
