Went up for the afternoon today.

Ice/groomed surfaces/some mm snow/fast

Can't really complain considering the weather patterns. We were up and down a smallish mountain pretty quickly. The base seems reasonably deep on most trails, so they should be able to have some nice spring days. Mercifully, they keep softer surfaces on the beginner trails. True to form of days past, this mountain is a good choice for families with beginners and intermediates. We all agreed that a full day of these conditions (we'd like to think we're advanced skiers) at a place this size would not have been worthwhile.

I commend Crotched for keeping the place in pretty good order. Take a look at the pic from today. Note that none of the surrounding properties have any snow at all.

I spent a few hours just cruising around in 25°F Sunshine and found the mountain to be in great shape! Please be advised that if they didn't make snow, they may not be open this weekend...after a few hours I ran the NASTAR Course on lower Meteor a handful of times...

A 15-mile drive from my house where it is difficult to find snow and Crotched is 99% open and running gates without liftlines...

It doesn’t get better than this for a Sunday, sleep late and go skiing in the afternoon...

I skied for 4 hours at Crotched on Sat. night and had a blast skiing manmade powder the whole time. This is my first year skiing. I go with my wife who skied a lot when she was younger, but hasn't been in 10 years. I think it's a great place to learn to ski.

When we were there it was cold - 3 degrees @ 10:00pm, and windy. The wind wasn't too bad in most places, but on the lower half of Galaxy, which cuts diagonally across the mountain, the wind was so strong that when I stood up straight and held my arms out I almost came to a complete stop, even with my skis pointed straight down the trail.

They had all the snow guns going on the Love Park terrain trail (which we just stayed to the side on) and the upper half of Galaxy. They were making so much snow that it looked like you were the first skier down the trail every run. This was my 10th time skiing and it was the most fun I've had yet. The man made powder was beautiful.
