Trip Report:

Last family trip to Crotched for the season...perfect spring skiing day. All of the groomers were in great shape with side to side coverage, and after they had some sun exposure the soft snow was sooo nice to carve on.

My son and I took one run in the glade trail Solstice Glade (which is really a few narrow trails and not a real glade IMO). Unfortunately, there were bare spots all down the middle so we bailed over to the terrain park part of the way down. I wasn't surprised given the lack of natural snow, but I did hope that it would be more skiable. The more open tree area Final Frontier had really good coverage, and I did hit that once after the snow softened up...real nice.

Only regret was that Crotched still does not set up much in the way of moguls...there is a narrow section on Pluto's Plunge under the lift but it was in the shade and solid for most of the morning. They really should set up seeded moguls on one of their trails...they have the space for it IMO.

The terrain park had some huge jumps set up on it...I think there was a competition on Saturday. Even with the warmer weather those jumps should be there for some time.

Conditions started to get sticky by about 1:00 PM, and the family had enough...I managed to get in around 12 runs so I was OK with calling it an early day. On my last run from the summit, the thermometer at the ski patrol shack read 50 degrees.

Overall one of my best days of the season, just reminds me that this is the best time of the year to get out and go skiing. :):)
