Resort or Ski Area: Crotched, NH

Conditions: Packed Powder, Sunny and Windy, 25 degrees

Trip Report: This was a first trip to Crotched for me. These guys really know how to lay the snow down. The reports certainly were no lie. Satellite Summit, Moon Walk, Meteor and Galaxy all phenominal with great cover. Crowds were minimal. I could definitely spend a full day or two there once everything is open. Its a small mountain that skis big and non stop (unlike Pat's Peak with the sag), and the staff and atmosphere is just great.

Expect Pluto's Plunge, NCC1701, Mountain Park, Big Dipper to be open next as they were all being hammered with the guns.

That is all

I skied there for the first time as well with my son today and I thought the conditions where okay, nothing stellar. Meteor was a mix of packed powder and mini ice balls, while I thought Galaxy had great snow for the most part.

We did ski in the afternoon, from 2:00 - 4:15pm, so conditions where a bit more skied off by that time.

The drive from Northeastern Connecticut is a pain in the @ss with 60+ miles of single lane highway from the end of I-190.

I agree that the staff are exceptionally friendly. We will be back again for a tour of the mountain when it's fully opened.

Hows the clearing they did on the new glade look? Did they just 'clean up' what people ended up clearing on their own?

If you mean Solstice, I have no clue, this was my first visit. The entrance is huge though from what I saw skiing by it.... I suspect on a big dump I would be seeking refuge elsewhere...

Enjoyed myself at Pat's this morning, but kind of wish I drove further to ski Crotched for a bit more vert and sustained pitch from what I've read. I'll probably hit a night skiing session there at some point this winter.

Yup, that's the one. Last year it was cleared a little bit, and people started to use it a bunch. So they decided to clear it up even more. Was REALLY hoping they didn't thin it out too much.

I'll be honest, I always feel that Pats has a little bit more vert then Crotched when you take into consideration that Crotched doesn't have any trails going the 'full length' of the vert. Pat's has a more flat trails.
