decided to hit the crotch for opening day, 11/28. About 1/3 the trails were open, rocket and valley lift running. Grooming if any was limited, some of the close trails had whales while others needed a base to cover some up the wet run off. Conditions was variable and fun. A couple of times, I lost my footing b/c the snow under one ski collapsed on me. I spent most of the time lapping soltice glades, when I started to feel more rocks underside then I went to meteor where it got bumped up.

If they open up more trails at the summit and pluto's plunge, the glades near appear to have some good stashes.

Thanks for the report. I wish I could have been there. I heard from several others very similar information. Did you notice if skiers were poaching the west side too? If you tried Kuiper Belt, let me know. I have a follow-up question.

Only thing open on the west was the surface lift. Saw a handful of parents & toddlers taking laps... which I thought was cool.

Some of the trails got poached from the ropes, lifties didn't enforce and I think i only saw one patroller the whole day. I couldn't find a a tracked entrance into Kuiper Belt and given the uneven snow, I didn't try it.

Dont blame you about Kuiper. I have had a few ejects in there after storms because of objects one would assume would be covered.

If it was a legit 15" it sounds like the ledges might be ready. Only concern would be people scraping all the snow off a couple rocks that would make you have to walk over.

There is a reason I asked. Last summer, it was pretty obvious walking the trail where the offending outcroppings on Kuiper Belt were, by virtue of scratch marks on them from ski edges. Some work was done last summer to move some of the offending rocks and to use branches prudently so the worst of the rocks were at ground level or below. As such, I was curious if their work made a difference.

Kuiper Belt is usually ready WAY before the ledges are.

I was there too on opening day - almost one of the best days I've had at the Crotch!!!! Amazing powder!!!! After one run on the short board switched to my big board and enjoyed the ungroomed (Solstice was REALLY nice!!!). Had to wait a few times at the Rocket but jumped up in line to join groups that had space for me on the lift.

Awesome!!!! I didn't want to leave!!! Of course, there were the usual early season glitches like the Rocket being down for a while mid-morning.
