I saw it. Very long, but very good overall IMHO. A bit complex, but dramatic at times.

I liked it.

TB - did you read the book? I was brought up pretty hard-line Catholic, so I thought the book was kinda melodramatic. I may or may not go see it......

Gotta admit the book is a real page-turner. From about page 5 you realize it had "to be made in to a major Hollywood blockbuster" written all over it.....

I found the book to be trite and a bit annoying- especially the "Hollywood Blockbuster" stamped all over it, as ChileMass so adroitly pointed out (don't get to use "adroitly" very often). For me, the biggest mystery was always "What bit of unrelated psuedo-history is he going to throw in and attempt to connect next?"

I also read Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress, and the one in Antarctica, the name of which escapes me at the moment. I read part of another Dan Brown novel several years ago. I can't remember the name of it, but I stopped reading when some charater told the protagonist, "Dammit, this isn't some Dan Brown novel!" I forgot it was him until after I read Da Vinci, and remembered the style and why I don't like him.

I'm not going to see the movie, in the theater, anyway. Maybe when it comes on USA for 17 Friday nights in a row I will.

Haven't seen the movie yet. I plan on it. I read the book. Enjoyed it. Read Angels and Demons and enjoyed that too. Deception Point is his other book that Ctenidae mentioned...IMHO, I thought that was his best.

Anyway, its all fiction. A lot of fiction is based on history and different interpretations of it. Again IMHO, people get so bent out of shape when its about religion. I wish people would just relax.....especially about religion. If one doesn't like it, don't go see it. What's the big issue?

I agree, but we are in a large minority here. Alot of folks feel it is their "right" as an American with free speech privileges to go to events they do not like or agree with so that they can be loud and complain alot about how it's just wrong for that event to even take place, forgetting that it is also the event organizer's "right" as an American with free speech privileges to have that event.

"Rights" apply to everyone here. Maybe that's the problem. Now I'll stop before it goes political.

My solution is a quick "left" from out of nowhere when somebody starts talking at me about "rights".

I haven't seen the movie yet, but will someday, no rush. I have read the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Deamons. Dan Brown's style is very obvious and kind of predictable - great for the movies I would think.

As for the religion stuff...

I picked up "Cracking Da Vinci's Code", hoping to just get a nice follow up on the parts of the story that are factual. Instead it was just the author quoting the bible while an ongoing story built about some college kids starting a new religion based on the Da Vinci Code.
I was very disappointed and didn't bother to continue reading them trashing Dan Brown in order to try to protect their beliefs.

My parents' priest told the congregation one Sunday not to go see the Da Vinci Code when it came out in the theatres.

C'mon now...
