Day Trip Suggestions?

Looking for some Mountain suggestions for a day trip this weekend (Sat or Sun). I'm wide open, just looking for some good conditions.

I'll be leaving from Enfield, CT (CT,Mass border) so driving times aren't too big of a deal.

I have a couple ideas myself, but just trying to see if anyone has another suggestion I may have overlooked.

I posted on 2knees Mt. Snow thread that it would be pretty nice this weekend, however, after looking at the radar and reading snow reports from Bolton Valley, that might be the place to be.......................
haven't checked Stowe or Jay yet, but there is some upslope going on up there all day today...............

Magic could be fun and uncrowded (just don't bring your precious jewel skis). Further afield, what he said: Bolton or Jay, maybe Smuggs. Stowe is going to be lift-constrained (read: long lift lines) with the quad out of service.

Usually this weekend at the end of Pres week is not too crowded, most people got it out of their system this week. It will probably feel like an ordinary weekend, at holiday prices. I use the NASTAR results to gauge crowds at various resorts - participation was very heavy midweek.

Stowe was one of my options until i read the Lift Issue thread and decided to pass on Stowe this weekend.

I'll be up at Berkshire East tonight and can report back. Conditions should be pretty good and crowds should be very managable now that they've got the 2nd triple chair running to the top.

It's piling up over there -- up in the hills - if it's snow you want go get it!

Bolton will have their usual Burlington weekend crowd.

Bolton is a good option. But for about the same or less time, go up 91 to Burke. Less crowded and depending on what you like it may be up your alley. You could also try Sugarbush North (Mount Ellen). It has been skiing pretty well. Broken record I know....

Honestly from the recon I hear there is some snow in the Berkshires. Berkshire East is a low key place that is fun.

How good is Burke gonna be for a strong beginner advancing into lower intermediate on groomers? Is it enough to keep him busy? I recommended Burke to that person this morning.

A strong beginner advancing to lower intermediate would be kind stuck in the middle at Burke. If they are up for the challenge, it is doable but a stretch. This is definitely one of Burke's weaknesses as Burke's intermediate ski more difficult than your average blue square at most other mountains. There are a few less challenging blues but Dear Run and a small number of other trails would get old quickly.
