Why have you forsaken your minions on the East Coast? Have we not sacrificed to your holy name? Are these sacrfices not to your liking?

All of the signs you have given us are that you are displeased. Will you tell us why? Is it something we are all doing to anger you, or is it one or a few non-believers. If the latter, give us their names and we will banish them to warm weather places permanently.

We suffer for the lack of snow. But we keep our faith in your heavenly plan, that you will redeem us with blankets of fresh fallen snow in the New Year.

In your holy name we pray.

Amen.

That is why I am permanently retiring the V8 SUV this weekend. A crusher is it future now, No longer will it spew forth CO2 ..This is my offering to ULLR :snow:

Oh when you go to talk to the polar bears they kind of like it when you get up close to them ..they think people are especially tasty and the last few hunting seasons haven't been good.

Wow, OldsnowboarderME, I just noticed your picture. You ARE old. :)

If I see you at Crotched sometime, think I'll be able to single you out cake now.

As I was telling Greg on the chairlift at Sundown on wednesday night, there just isn't any cold weather to be found in the Northern Hemisphere right now, just average to above average temperatures in most spots. All indications that I have seen suggest a warmer and rather snowless winter than normal with no pattern change in sight.

The storm for New Years Day looks to be a rain maker for most of Southern and Central New England with 0.50 - 1.00" of rain/freezing rain and a storm for later next week looks to bring more of the same.:smash::uzi:

Huh? There's a cold pool of air (<20 deg F at the surface level - 850 mb for us Westerners)over Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado right now, and for the foreseeable future, according to the GFS Model. Temps in the last 15 days have been below normal as well. So, there is some cold air on the continent, let alone the Northern Hemisphere.

Yes there is cold air, but the true Arctic air in Canada/Alaska is not nearly as cold as it could be, but just average and the cold air out west means a ridge and warm conditions here.

NOAA predicts a continuation of the cold West/warm East into January with a more southern storm track (good for Mammoth skiing into June:smile: )

The west also has substantial snowpack to keep the cold air around, we have zip for snowcover.

Hopefully we can hang on to and build up what little snowpack we have in the East:

Thank you Ullr, for delivering unto us thy bounty. Yea, verily, for opening the very heavens and spreading blankets of white upon the land. For this we humbly give thanks.

I don't know how the forecasters missed this one. As of last night, weather.com was saying about an inch. We've got about six inches on the ground in the Mad River Valley already and it's dumping. It's been about two years (ouch) since I've seen this rate of snowfall. :) :) :)

We are waiting impatiently for the snow to sift its way down to Northern Connecticut. The forecast says 1" of snow which will look good when it covers up all of the mud around my house. I was able to walk on my front yard for the first time since we moved in as the mud froze solid last night with the temp down to 25F.

Sundown should be much improved tonight with a good night of snowmaking last night. Perhaps I may even get to ski on the stuff they call packed powder:lol:
