Date(s) Skied: Wednesday 02/23/11
Resort or Ski Area: Deer Valley, UT
Conditions: True packed powder on groomed, tracked powder and bumps on ungroomed, busy but not crazy
Trip Report:
Fourth and final day of skiing while on vacation in Park City...decided on DV because I didn't want to figure out a new ski area, especially one as large as The Canyons. Will go there the next time I get to PC (whenever that is).
I was tired from 3 days of skiing and I was more interested in exploring than in hitting difficult terrain...so me and the DW stuck to the greens and blues. We skied trails off of every area except Lady Morgan, making our way to Empire in the morning (had to see what the Daly Bowl and Chutes looked like even if I couldn't ski them) and going over to Deer Crest in the afternoon (which had a slow lift but a few decent trails). It was sunny out most of the time and there are some real nice views from each summit.
It was a bit busy but not at sell-out levels like we had on Sunday. Lift lines crept up to a few minutes on occasion but most of the time it was practically ski-on. The greens and a few of the blues were still busy but many of blues were uncrowded...on a few we were the only people on them.
It was great to see the DW on steeper trails...like at PCMR, the groomed trails were true packed powder which makes dealing with the steeper pitch easier than it usually is back in NE. I did do some brief venturing off into ungroomed sections of trails and the tracked up powder was still nice and fluffy. No hollering but I was definitely grinning...:smile:
