Had a great last day at Deer Valley today...After skiing Solitude, Park City, and Alta the last three days I was pretty worn out. I woke up at around 630 and checked the road conditions. LCC was closed to cars without chains and I did not feel like dealing with the hassle of the bus. With Deer Valley reporting the most snow, I decided to head there. I began the day by riding the Silver Lake Express. I then proceeded to take a warm-up run off of the Sterling Express, Birds Eye I believe. After, I skated over to the Empire lift, I skied Conviction-Buckeye-Orion. The snow was mid-shin deep and it skied very well. I then proceeded to take a few more runs in this area before breaking for an early lunch at 1050. Although it had been snowing lightly since arrival, it began to DUMP while we were at lunch. After lunch, I skied a few runs off of the Silver Strike Express. The depth of the snow continued to increase and the skiing got better every run. Afterwards, I skied over to the Lady Morgan area. I skied the Centennial Trees. The powder in there was great and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. After those runs, I skied Ontario Bowl, the snow here was very good. Unfortunately, my binding pre-released and I spent 10 minutes collecting my ski and and both poles in the deep snow. Soon, this was a distant memory as I found DEEP untracked snow in "The Ruins of Pompeii." Well riding up the chairlift, I saw someone uke: on the chair in front of me. That was definitely the nastiest moment of the day LOL. Following these runs, the snow and wind both became even more intense. As a result, the visibility at the top was reduced to a literal whiteout. For the rest of the day, I skied untracked snow off of the Wasatch Express. It was awesome!!! It was definitely a great ski week and I hope to get back to Utah again soon!
