I don't do weight training during the on season. When I was younger and worked in restaurants, I'd do wait training, but that's really about it.

I'm amazed at how many people ski and lift but don't bother to burn off all the extra fat or train their aerobic system. Amazing how many future MI candidates you see in gyms these days.

stationary bike & UBE for arms....the UBE is brutal....im still baffled that people that ski arent building muscle tissues in areas that can get injured skiing....

if you are trying to get/stay in shape for skiing I don't think lifting weights is the only answer. Now if you want to tell the people in your gym the reason you lift is for skiing, have at it. I am guessing your reason is to feed your ego but what do I know. It is entertaining in a GSS type of way

joined the gym November 1st. Older I get the more that my overall enjoyment and how well I ski is determined by my physical condition. I wasn't all that committed in winter, only going 3 days a week or so. Since mid-April I'm there probably 6 days a week. Figure about 4 hours worth of weights and 4 hours worth of cardio a week. I was 205 at the start of last season. I hope to be 180 by the start of next. About half way there. If I didn't enjoy stuffing my face as much as I do as well as my appetite for beer and wine; I'd probably be close already. Refuse to diet.

i cross between

swimming
road/mtn biking
running
circut training via WOD workouts (some of these sound easy, but towards the end you want to vomit...full body workouts, gets the HR pumping, using own body weight/strength....)

I run. I spend a lot of time doing yard work this time of year, so I get to the gym when I can.

Thankfully, you'll never see me posting topless pics of myself here. I just don't see the need.
