Okay, as I've been padding my post count here tonight, I'll also been getting drunken text messsages from one of my hygenists, who with her husband and couretsy of the generosity of one of my patients are currently sitting courtside at the Celtics/Bucs game right now :( Apparently the beers are flowing liberally and a drunken T ride back to their hotel room by Copley tonight are soon to happen. I figure I might have to get her back with some texting tommorrow AM around 3:45 when I have to get up ;)

I'm proud to only have received 6 text messages in my life, one being a wrong number. And 2 were about skiing.

The rejection sorta sucked, though...

Pad away.

 The only texts I get are spam. Sucks to pay for crap you didn't want in the first place.

SPAM for real? I had no idea that there was such a thing as SPAM texts. I hope I can avoid that. You have no idea how much SPAM email and Junk Snail Male makes my blood boil. Can't stand that crap

Yeah, junk male really makes my blood boil, too. ;)

I didn't think you could get spam texts...until I did. Brian gets them, too. One night I had to turn my phone off because I was sick of hearing them come in (maybe half a dozen in one night). And since we don't pay for texting because we don't use it, I had to pay individually for each of those damn bits of junk.

Yup, those are the only texts that I get too. It is really irritating!

I love to drunk text my buddies. Usually very few words, many spelling errors and filled with cuss words. Makes me laugh getting the responses.

About the only texts I get are from my brother, and 90% of them are something like "Argglefarber Belgian Ale- real good". The other 10% are pictures of his kids.

There isn't a chance in HELL that I'd pay for spam texts. Can't you have your carrier investigate who is doing it and have them put a stop to it?

That would drive me nuts

I have Sprint. This mission would take about 2 hours (on hold mostly) and 17 emails to resolve. I think you can set your phone to receive absolutely no text messages. Personally, I've become a tm junky. You can have your google calendar (and many others) send you reminders as short text messages before appointments (you choose how far ahead). In addition, I have vonage transcribe all of my voicemails into tm's. I pay into an unlimited plan ($15/including internet access) and it works out pretty well.

I just bumped the pet peeve thread with my disdain for spam faxes. They use up paper and printer ink. I've gone to an electronic fax service and now they are just email spam which is better (less waste). It does no good at all to call the fax spammers. I think you just verify your fax number when you do.

So even though I like my text messages, I can fully sympathize with text messages for which you pay but can't stop.

The solution is simple! Take 2-3 pieces of paper and color them entirely with a black marker. Tape the three pieces together so they are 3 long. Start it into fax, then tape the bottom to the top so you have a closed loop. Send a fax to the spammers. It is a infinite long fax and will use a lot of their paper/ink:p

It's worth a shot, but I'll bet most of them have electronic receiving and other work-arounds.

I just can't believe spam texts are allowed by law. I'm on the Do Not Call list and any do not mail list I can find. That stuff just drives me nuts. Don't call me, don't text me, don't fax me, don't email me, don't send me junk mail - PERIOD. That type of crap aswell as adware & spyware should be 100% outlawed if you ask me.

I drunk texted a conversation with a drunk co-worker a couple of weeks ago when we went to a wolfpack game. The following Monday I checked the message log on my phone and had no idea what the hell either of us were talking about... something about hats being political... so I asked him about it that Monday. He couldn't remember a thing.

I have my #s on the Do Not Call list, too. Still get spam texts. I can complain about them (which is a pain in the rear) but I haven't found a way so far to block them. It sucks.

I should try this, especially because I'm particularly faded tonight. What's your cell again...?
