Resort or Ski Area: Elk Mountain

Conditions: am Packed Powder Corduroy
pm Packed Powder

Trip Report: Hit the slopes right as the lifts opened at 8:30. There were some flurries on the way up and they may have received 1" of new snow overnight.
Except for Wayalusing (closed for snowmaking), Tunkhannock (left ungroomed for moguls), and Lehigh (closed for lack of natural snow) the rest of the mountain was immaculately groomed corduroy. I can see why they are rated one of the best in the East for grooming. Even the lines were straight up and down the fall line and unbroken. It was a work of art!
Winds were light and the snow held well all day except for some spots on the steepest slopes.
Temps started in the twenties and went to the low thirties.
Lift lines were one to three chairs most of the day. Longest lines were around 2:00pm for the chairs right outside of the lodge, maybe 5 minutes.
All in all a great day with great conditions and weather.

Side Note: Not many boarders here as they have only a small terrain park and no half pipe. The boarders I did see tend to be of a higher skill level, on average, than those that I see at other mountains.

I was there on Saturday morning. Not bad... a fair amount of cement-like hardpack, but a few trails were in very nice shape (Chippewa, Tecumseh, Iroquois).
