I've seen them on design shows- I think Property Brothers installed one.

They do, apparently, work as room heaters, but it seems like output's not all that high (like trying to cook on an alcohol stove vs white gas, I suppose). Freestanding fireplaces look to be 2-4kW of output, similar to a regular space heater.

Seems like people complain about the fuel being expensive, but it also seems like they are buying "bio-ethanol" (is there any other kind?), which I'm sure caries an earth-friendly surcharge.

Black so you can fall a sleep while the sun is out would be my guess.

On the ceiling?

/I recognize Nick was talking about not wanting to buy cheaper fuel.
My point was that ethanol is ethanol, and it's all biologically generated, so paying more for a bottle that's labeled "bio-ethanol" believing that it is cleaner/better/more environmentally friendly would be a mistake.

Maybe Nick likes black that is okay although it is the opposite color then snow.
