Sugarbush....anything with glades in the name..Sleeper glades, Murphys glades, Organgrinder, Ripcord when groomed, FIS when groomed, Birdland, The dopey run under the Gatehouse quad..waterfall which they rate a black for the gapers and whatever else the run is called..the quickest run to do when your buddy is in the lodge and you don't want to stop..and also on the way to the Slidebrook express which nubz love...but vert whores aren't into because of all the lift riding time..ahahah
i would almost add ripcord at mt snow to this list, they do claim it being "one" of the steepest in vermont. it is steep, but wide. the plunge glade i which shares the same line as rip cord is a lot harder
Many of these runs on your list don't fit into the earlier definition of "lemming runs." These are all standard runs for most Sugarbush skiiers and would hardly call for bragging rights at the bar
About anything that's not off the beginner lift at Wachusett. I've even heard a few "OMGZZZ I DID RALPHS RUN!!!!111!!111".
Someone told me that White Heat is a "no-fall zone," that is, if you fall (and presumably don't hurt yourself), patrol comes over and takes your ticket. Is this true?
There used to be (I don't know if it's still there or not) a sign at the top stating that it was a no-fall zone because a minor fall could easily turn into a dangerous slide. It also mentioned needing properly maintained equipment and knowing how to self-arrest. It did not suggest that falling would result in your ticket being pulled.
In my experience at SR, that trail doesn't tend to have very many dangerous slides, as the bumps that are often on it allow people to self-arrest reasonably easily. Quantum Leap is the most scary trail to watch if it's icy/hardpack....I've watched a few people slide straight down the entire trail, spraying snow and flailing around.
White Heat has a more prolonged pitch, more variations in pitch, and it seems to tip towards the woods in places. Although I don't have access to incident records at Sunday River, I'd be pretty comfortable guessing that it has a more significant track record of injuries, as well.
Goosebumps - Mt Sunapee
I'd agree...since the first headwall is also along the start of the easiest trail from the summit.I'd say Upper Blastoff is more of the lemming trail- people are always piled up at the entrance working up their nerve. Such a crappy trail. Goosebumps is actually fun when there's snow on it.
