I'm not sure about CT but in MA you can't buy them (which I think is lame).

But RI, NH, VT they are easy to pickup. I'll be in South Carolina for the 4th, where they sell fireworks literally everywhere.

Here's a pic i took (not on the 4th, but just during the summer) 2 years ago in Myrtle Beach:

I've got a buddy who always has a stash of fireworks, and to be honest I'm surprised he hasn't lost a finger / hand / limb yet. He's pretty damn reckless with them

You can buy the sparkler type in CT. I haven't bought any in ages though. There are two stores just over the NH line in Hinsdale. I keep meaning to stop there. NH used to be awesome back in the day...you could buy pretty much anything...all the good stuff. But I think they changed that. Not sure what's available at those stores. Guess this weekend would be as good as any to find out.

Last year was pretty cool, spent the 4th on the Charles in my friend's boat to watch the show. That was a lot of fun.

We usually go to Portsmouth, but not sure what the plan is this year. My wife enjoys the shows more than I do. I've seen enough of them in my life that dealing with the crowds and traffic generally isn't worth it to me unless it's something special, like last year on the Charles.

For those from Maine, be careful buying fireworks in NH. No joke, Maine cops hang out in undercover vehicles near the border fire work stores and will follow people with Maine plates who buy them and arrest folks once they cross into Maine. Not sure why Maine is so uptight about fireworks. It's one of the first signs you see on the highway entering the state, "Fireworks are Illegal"

I'm thinking that a Glenn run across the border for Fireworks and restocking of the PBR supply will be happening this weekend!

That's a pretty accurate prediction Jeff! I am a little low on PBR!

Sound advice for this 4th of July, but it looks like they might be legal in Maine starting in September! Legalizing fireworks is currently being considered in the legislature, and I believe the House has already showed support for the bill, and I believe it is supported by the governor as well.

Looking forward to the annual Lake Hopatcong fireworks on the boat Friday night. I do buy some "bombs" over in PA. There's a good store right on the Camelback access road. PA resisdents can't buy them in PA but with a Jersey licence I can get them. There are reports of NJ state officials staking out fireworks stores close to the state line and taking down plate numbers and radioing them to NJ State Police but I have yet to have a problem.

I usually watch my towns firework show and then shoot some off in my back yard, I'm pretty sure their illegal in my town but we do it anyway. This year I'm trying to get a different perspective and will be doing a dusk hike.

Usually watch up at Winni, take the boat to the town show, some of the neighbors with deep pockets go insane with fireworks so we watch that from the deck but we are staying home this year. We will catch some local ones and maybe light a few off in the backyard.

Last couple of years, while trying to escape the traffic of Cape Cod and head back to CT, we've actually managed to catch bits and pieces of a solid 1/2 dozen or so fireworks displays from various towns along rte's 24 and 195. Been kind of cool to see actually.

My all time favorite though had to be back in the summer of '91. I was on a plane on 4th of July evening that was flying from Charlotte to Albany, that left Charlotte about 8:45PM. Lots of views of fireworks from above for a good chunk of that flight. Pretty cool stuff IMHO.

Since July 4th is actually my wife's birthday, we always manage one way or another to check out a few displays, because as a kid, she thought that the fireworks were meant for her!

Fireworks are too dangerous and powerful these days. I hate hearing of burn injuries, by far some of the most painful, damaging and disfiguring.

The other major dislike I have with backyard fireworks is the potential for fire. Depending on the community, the risk rises dramatically. It'll be dry again by the 4th this weekend.

Be very careful.

Will probably go see them somewhere. Was looking at a schedule of all the CT towns having fireworks and if you plan right you can see them every night starting tonight thru next Tuesday and then also the following two weekends!

Signed by the Governor today- the use and sale of consumer fireworks will be legal in Maine effective January 1st, 2012!
