This incoming Friday storm system and the possible Jet stream set up have the mountain weather reports all over.

The lower VT mountains are showing windy and warm but no rain even though the local towns show rain possible. The Northern VT mountains are showing frozen mixed precipitation and warm temps but cooler with Stowe and Jay peak hovering just above or just at freezing. Maybe Stowe and Jay don't melt and freeze too badly.

Saturday is a roll of the dice and might be ok, If it is Teens's Sat night and Sunday all day (near zero wind chills) Sunday is looking like a frozen over day with Trees and Glades and off-Groomers going to be rough "I would think". Maybe Monday becomes softer and more doable again at some mountains if its sunny and upper 30's

Frozen Glades and Trees suck, Frozen Tracks & Crud suck to run over and through.
What to do for Sunday and Monday?? Groomers till soft

Upcoming Friday(3/17/2023) mountain weather reports
-Killington-
Unfortunately, the weather tomorrow does not look too promising. Temperatures will be above freezing and increasing throughout the entirety of the day. We expect a frozen mix to arrive midday, which will turn to r*** later in the afternoon. Thankfully, all of the new snow should protect our base and allow us to retain great coverage across the mountain. Snow conditions tomorrow will consist mostly of packed powder. As poor weather conditions arrive, we may experience an icy glaze and variable conditions this weekend. The surface will stay soft overall, but we can say goodbye to any powder that remains

-Stowe-
Tomorrow’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with elevation dependent showers developing during the afternoon. It looks like we may see snow showers or a wintry mix on the upper mountain, while the base area sees a wintry mix that trends towards rain showers late in the day. High temperatures are expected to range from near 30 degrees at the summit to the upper 30s in the base area.

-Smugglers Notch-
Fri. Snow showers on top, chance of mix at base, with highs of 38 at base and 34 on top

Well at least we have added feet of snow to help with spring skiing....would be pretty bleak if this storm didn't happen..

Where I skied last week...
We don't have these round these parts....

Massive avalanches? Perhaps not...but we do have avalanches on a smaller scale at times. Not only is MRG warning of the possibility of that on terrain beyond Paradise, but there's also a video of a mini-one happening at MRG this week:

If you are trying to Salvage any riding days this weekend. Here is what it looks like currently.
DCT_SPECIAL1_1280x720.jpg

NY mountains look like they are taking a beating today. VT looks like they will get warm mild "non-snow" and snow on some peaks in a few areas. Any weather brave Skiers and Boarders out today(3/17/2023)?
NH and Maine are looking like they will be picking up more snow then VT. Wonder how much they will freeze over after tonight and tomorrow?

Jay peak has been getting Snow at its peak and its location and elevation and avoiding "non-snow" so far : ) Mixed in sleet @ 3:00pm no R*** still
Smugglers Notch(sterling peak) has been below freezing at the top (28f)1:00pm and snowing today on and off Mixed precipitation @ 2:30pm
Stowe has been just above freezing :( most the day with mixed precipitation. "R***" at Stowe 2:00pm

So spring type weather is here now with warmer sunny days and "R***" at times but luckily with that moisture we still have snow days. Avoid the frozen mountain glaze and Batter up this week is Thursdays "non-snow" of 1/4" - 1/2" of moisture followed by this weekends Saturday and Sunday snow event. Inbounds is 6"-9" all around and maybe a little more Snow at a few lucky locations.

Middle of VT is looking like the area of more incoming snow at the moment this weekend

Pretty widespread 4-8, probably with some sleet mixed in. I'll take it.

Matt is jerking himself off over this. That sweet sweet sleet baby.

I wasn’t banned from the weather page, just the community page. I reckon he has incentive to pump numbers on the “product” page
