Nowhere now, but everywhere
That’s kind of why I posted, trying to get an idea of how realistic that 12”+ is for the Berkshires because if I do have to make alternate plans it’s a massive logistical operation. I guess it all depends on where the rain snow line is, but if I had to guess right now I’m betting it’ll be mixed precipitation anywhere south of Catamount and leaving early on Sunday. I should avoid the worst of it if I’m shacked up by 2 o’clock.

Gonna be at Berkshire East all week and hoping the storm opens up all the trees.
ummm... I live in the northwest hills of CT and work for a company in Pittsfield, so I check the weather in these parts a lot. I see that it is going to start snowing around 1pm Saturday in Pittsfield and will snow thru the night before turning to freezing rain early Sunday morning. Then it will be freezing rain all day long on Sunday. If you are shacked up by two on Saturday, it looks like you will be fine. Otherwise you may want to watch what happens and possibly drive up on Monday as Sunday is not looking good around these parts.

Froze my ass off at Alta this morning..super heavy winds. Bailed when it started dumping.
I knew the roads would be shit in no time.
Getting up my hill to the house..total shitshow. Cops eventualy closed it..thankfully after I left for kamas...
Getting there was a shitshow. People do not know how or what to drive in Utah.
But...tomorrow full blown powder day..then work for the week...gotta pay for my passes.
And hey..we get free lunch sat and sun...
So free lunch apparently does exist.

SNOW and now EXTENDED COLD
1739537386548.jpeg

A significant meteorological event is poised to impact the contiguous United States next week, as the stratospheric polar vortex undergoes a rare split, leading to an arctic outbreak with temperatures projected to plummet 20 to 40 degrees below normal between February 17th and 23rd.

Nice
You road you live on closes?
Some of it does. They divert you way the hell around to a less steep part...but its all the way in Lehi. Its the one large trucks have to use. Parts of my road have a 10% grade.
There where cars all over the place when I was climbing it..in my poor subaru with awesome tires.
The guy in the porche looked unhappy

wind holds at sugarloaf and saddleback today. cool with me. let it sit and wait.
My daughter is currently up at Sugarloaf for the USCSA Eastern College Regional Ski Championships, and per a text I got from her a little while ago... "Not even a remote thought right now about leaving the condo we're staying at with how strong the wind is..."

Going to be a bunch of college kids up at Sugarloaf this weekend in race suits (weather permitting), which also means that the supplies of PBR and Highnoon's at the local stores may be in extra short supply this weekend up there! ;):ROFLMAO:

This May Be the Best East Coast Ski Season in Almost 20 Years: It Just Keeps Snowing

While it’s still relatively early, 2024-25 is shaping up to be a memorable year on the East Coast. The last several seasons have been fairly poor, but it looks like all the suffering may finally be over. At 187 inches, Killington Resort, Vermont, is on pace to have its largest season total since 2006-07 and has received more snow than Vail, Colorado. Jay Peak, Vermont, has already surpassed 300 inches (averages 360″), which puts it in fifth place for snowfall in North America. In the southeast, Snowshoe, West Virginia, has already surpassed its average snowfall of 150 inches. For the first time since 2018-19, snow depth on Mt. Mansfield, VT, is above average for this point in the season.

14" so far where I am, yet only 8" at 9,000 feet on the slopes. Been that kind of year; bizarre flow with this storm.

At least much more is expected between now and Saturday morning.
