Some years ago (10+) I was told by a BC resort rep (Fernie IIRC) at the Boston ski expo that US citizens are not allowed to cross into the US with Canadian rental cars. IDK whether that's still the case but, just FYI.
And separately, đź‘Ťđź‘Ťfor Whitefish

thanks. ya, crossing with a car i dont own is my concern. its a turo but yep thats my major worry about going into the us. prob wont go south of castle/red. i really hope it just snows where i am going. :(

If you can make it, get to Castle. Bummed we had to omit it on our trip.

While at Revy, we were hiking to the sub peak with some Panorama locals who said it’s pretty thin there right now. Talking with them is what convinced us to stay the extra days at Revelstoke instead of Panorama.

Haven’t paid much attention to the snow situation since we returned from there. But Revelstoke was the only one getting any snow. Even if it was 1-2” overnight it made a difference and added up over the week we stayed.

yep. as of now its looking like some minor accumulations that i hope add up. banff area looks dry as a bone while i am there tho, and have not seen snow in a week or so. i may audible first half of the trip to red. getting a bit worried and frantically refreshing weather models.

making arrangements to execute on this plan... banff just looks like a total strikeout for snow and it hasnt snowed in like 10 days there...

cancel banff hotel. stay in calgary cheap.
ski lake louise 2/16
drive to rossland, check into hotel
ski red 2/17-19
drive to kelowna. check into hotel
ski big white 2/20-21 (could also check out apex one of these days)
drive to revelstoke
ski revelstoke 2/22-26 (can check out sun peaks one day)
ski kicking horse 2/27
calgary hotel 2/27
fly home 2/28

Nowhere now, but everywhere
other friends at Fernie last week missed out on a couple days of skiing upper mountain terrain because of the cold. They shut down all upper mountain and longer lifs. I see red had delayed opening today for same reason. Something to investigate. Kicking Horse gondola for the win

Rocking Northeast. Vermont’s Jay Peak Has Seen More Snow This Season Than Alta & Jackson Hole
Jay Peak has seen 285 inches of snowfall this year, or around 82% of their annual snowfall average of 347 inches.

Ya the extreme cold goes away and there is some minor snow for the interior in the models. Big 0s for banff and even powder highway spots tho. Going directly into the interior or down to whitefish will be a better way to get things going than banff

Unfortunately Thursday storm looking like less snow/ more mix unless you’re in Laurentian mountains. Weekend storm(s) not a lock either.

Euro has this thursdays northeast storm coming in as ice/mix in most of VT. gfs has ice/mix only into southern VT.

Too far out, too many moving parts. All the Ensembles are all still cold north of I90 so can’t rely on one run of one model.

Looking like the Maine mountains might make it out of most of the mix on this one. We will see.
